Hello!

i just brought a TD5 disco 2000/W and all electrics work just as they should BUT if the car is left for more than 24 hrs, the remote central locking will not operate. as soon as i unlock using the key in the door, the remote functions perfectly again until left again for 24+ hrs.

It seems to me that a module is going to sleep and not waking when receiving the remote signal. I work in Ford technical development centre as an engineer and the guys here say its unheard of for anything to go to sleep this long after using the car and stopping the remote functioning.

I have 3 keys and they ALL do the same.

Any ideas? google dont seem to help

thanks in advance

Sleep is just what is happening, I believe there's a note on this in the owners handbook and mentions using the key to 'wake up' the system.
Although I'm not that interest I have seen it mentioned in one the disco Forums before :)

hand book says "NOTE: If the handset does not operate after the
vehicle has been parked for a long period,
unlock the driver's door with the key and then
try again. If the handset still fails to operate,
enter the EKA code using the procedure shown
later in this section
"

but 24 hours is way too short! i would expect maybe a few weeks!

Anyone else have this?

is has a non standard stereo in it and maybe the RDS stereo used to let the GEM (or what ever its called on the LR) the time through the BUS? but, many ppl have different stereos in theirs too.

oh well , i feel as if i may just have to put up with it - a land rover 'characteristic' lol

Thanks

Mark

Yes 24h is far to short so something is wrong, I did see 72h mentioned somewhere once but maybe the was for a RR as they had a recall but that was some time ago, anyway hopefully someone will be along soon with more info on a D2 security system.
