Series 2 enigine advice needed!

Hi All,

I Have recently aquired a series 2 (2a i think!!), the bodywork and chassis are all fine and sound, the engine however isnt so good. its basically buggered. the head is missing and 2 cylinders are rusted, the sump casing is also missing along with numerous other bits. therefore i am going to hopefully just get a "new" engine. what i need to know is, do defender 90 engines fit easily into this vehicle? im thinking especially a 300tdi? if not can anyone tell me what engines are good to fit? and also does anyone have one for sale? im in cambridgeshire and can pick up within a reasonable distance.

Hi - scour this forum for fitment of 200tdi and 300tdi engines into a series - there is lots of stuff about

300 tdi is more compact, 200 is probably easyer to do

ye done em all m8. old defender on series box is easyist but boxes blow apart with long use and constant high speed then head blew off mine. theres plenty of people put 2ootdi in but again series box dont last long and you needs defender manifolds. best thing is to put a 7.6gmc twinturbo in with a chevy box. wow thats power m8.
