I am after a 90 or 110, but i need seats for the children. 110 no problem, but in a 90 i would need full seat belts in the back not just lap belts. I have seen in the past some 90's with full seat belts and some just lap belts. The question is: was there a date when the the belts changed to full belts and can the lap belts be easily changed?

Any help would be greatfully received.

Not sure when they changed. Exmoor trim use to do a lock and fold seat with a 3 point belt.

When my son was younger i bought a 110CSW so that i could carry 3 passangers with 3 point belts as he got older he now sits in the front of my 90 with his booster seat.

TBH safest option buying the 110csw

What type of seats do you have in the back? Unless they are forward-facing, you can't fit anything other than lap-belts. And there is no way on earth I'd use those with kids.

My Exmoor Trim rear seats and belts.

They dont look to clever, the angle for the diagonal is not correct. there is a British standard covering the installation of seat belts and the angles at which they must be. If the diagonal is to low it will cause damage to the person in the event of an accident same if it is to high.

Hmmmm..... care to tell me what the angle should be? I can't see how Exmoor Trim can sell those seats and seatbelts if they don't meet British Standards.

Look fine to me - belts would sit higher once someone is in the seat and they're running over their shoulder, and probably perfect for the little ones

My first car (a small Sunbeam coupe) had the seat belt mountings near the back - it made the angle of the belt quite long and flat, but wasn't an issue once a person was in the seat.

Out of interest Ian - because I'm still toying with adding a single fold up seat - does the kit give you all you need and guide where to mount the seat belt fixings?

Cheers

I've sat in the back, and as you say, the seat belts go over the shoulder correctly. Obviously from the front, the angle looks different as it doesn't take into account the fact that the mounting point is behind the seat. We use booster seats which have a top locating piece to ensure the seatbelt runs across the chest and doesn't sit too high.

If you've never purchased from Exmoor Trim before, you're in for a treat! The quality of the items is very good - but I'm sorry to say the instructions are usually next to useless! I ended up ringing their technical guy who explained what needed to go where, as it really wasn't obvious from the "instructions". You do get all the bits and pieces you need though.

Cheers Ian

When I do it (few jobs ahead of that!), I'll pester you for your learnings

By the way - the thread where you posted your console set me thinking that I needed some extra gauges (well, you can't have too many can you), so that's this weekend's job if postie delivers!

Going for a poor man's mounting option, but IMO looks OK - using one of these mounted 'upside down' onto the grey vent cover behind the dash shelf

Surprisingly thick plastic and reasonable match to dash for just £5.

Have stolen your idea of routing pipes to the bulkhead blanking plate where a LH Drive would have the speedo cables. Now just struggling with how to mount the pod upside down as I can't get a screwdriver in! Think it might be an epoxy resin job, but then a hassle to fit the gauge brackets!

Hijack over!

Have a look there is a British standard for fitting seat belts. That give you the distance a 3 point belt has to be from the side and rear of a seat.

The items can meet british standards doesnt mean the fitting or positioning does.

From the pictures your seats are squinty as well. Are the mounting points of the belts on decent sized spreader plates ? Or are they connected to the chassis. I use a boaster seat with the bit for retaining the seatbelt at shoulder levelas well, but a lot of use it will be if the angle of the belt isn't correct and in the event of an impact it will not support and retain in the correct position.
Personally i wouldn't let my son sit in a seat thats is squinty and the seat belts certainly dont look right.

Did exmoor trim give you the dimension to fit the seat belt in relation to the seats or did they give you a guide but also state to check relevant standards as there legal get out of jail card.

I have bought exmoor seats in the past but since i was carrying my young soon i was replacing the low back rear seats in a 110 CSW which had factory fitted seat belts which are type approved and certified
