thinking of taking my family for a trip round Scotland driving up the east coast and round to the west I am planning it for next summer but need info for campsites that you can recommend please that are dog friendly we are taking our 3 dogs with us :D
 
I've done quite a few trips all over Scotland, you'll find most campsites allow dogs. My favourite sites are Durness, on the very NW coast which is often deserted, Laide in Gairloch, which has a campsite right on the beach, the red squirrel campsite in Glencoe, which has a great pub just down the road called the Clachaig, and anywhere on the Isle of Skye, because it's Skye!
 
I know you asked about campsites but a lot of Scotland has really great bunkhouses. If your heading out to some of the islands a lot of them are old, thatched crofting cottages, situated right on the beach and are generally pretty deserted.

+ 1 for the wild camping.
 
+1. Those bloody things will eat you alive. I highly highly recommend a midgey net to go over your head as sometimes even the cream doesn't keep the buggers away

be careful. although you can wild camp.. and check out the rules.. you can't just offroad it to get to a location. :)
 
I am well aware of the midges I lived on the west coast for 10 years or so :violent::violent: when I went fishing up the lochs we used to build a fire just to keep the little blighters at bay I swear they are like vampires with git big teeth :eek::D:D but by bringing the dogs hopefully they will eat them instead of us either that or the pongs that the dogs let of will scatter them well a ways :D:D

I did a cycle tour up the Outer Hebrides many years ago and the Bunkhouses were great. Peat burning stoves drying your wet cloths, wild weather outside, whiskey inside. You didn't want too get on the bike and leave in the morning!!
