Scangauge 2 trip computer

hiya.

was looking around on the roveron site and came across this.

ScanGauge2 | Hand-held Tools | UKOBD

just wondering if anyone on here uses one at all please.

would be a great tool to test the MPG etc, before and after making improvements to the engine, ie;synergy etc.

Waste of time buying one to work out MPG. Not very accurate at all. Better off saving your money and working it out on paper.

I used to have one for reading AIT's in my Focus RS. (I have a much more advanced unit in it now) It is a great bit of kit but not for what you want it for.

i emailed the company and advised me it only works on freelanders from 2004

mine is a 2002.

i would like to get a plug in digital gauge to see what mpg im doing so i can adjust my speed on the motorway etc.

as diesel is suppose to be going up to £1.40 a litre i have been trying to search the web for a mpg monitor to try and save some cash.

save your cash and dont bother buying one they give a average of your mpg and its better to just work it out if u that worried about your mpg

Fill up. Drive on the motorway. Then fill up again. Then calculate the mpg. For a good result, use the same pump to refill. Sometimes they cut off at different points. That toy above is for talking with odbii complient cars only I think. Hence the 2004 thing.

thanks, yes i know what you mean about the odb 2 complient cars.

i just thought there would have been a cheap accurate item on the market seeing we live in such an electronic age.

but i think i will do it the old fashioned way as like you guys say save my money and work it out manually.

it would have been interesting to see how the different MPH effects the MPG around town and motorways etc.

Do you have a satnav that could tell you yr average MPH? My Garmin would be able to do that for me if I was bothered enough....

I use a great free iPhone app called 'Road Trip LE'.
When you fill up you enter the odometer reading, amount of litres put in and cost per litre and it tells you your MPG and cost per mile. - excellent
