S*L*U*T*S NEWBIES trip to Salisbury plain

Evening all.

Sorry but no pics from me yet. I didn't even get in the front door before work started ringing me.

I will look through what I have and post em up as soon as I get a chance. (I'm sat in my truck at the moment so haven't even looked at the camera yet).

I'm glad everybody enjoyed themselves. It was a bit chilly to start with.

It's nice to see the Freelanders and 'special vehicle' went where all the Defenders and Discovery's went. I am impressed. Fair play to you guys.:cool:

Hopefully we'll get some more trips sorted for next year.:)

hope it sorts itself skynet and your exhaust doesn't end up being too costly MHM..

I ended up calling the AA..that's what I pay them for after all... and went back into pizza hut for a coffee and by the time I finished it they called to say they were 10 minutes out... bit of 'duck spray' and blue roll and off I went firing sweetly on all 8.. stopped for lpg on the way home and got here about 20 minutes ago so not bad at all...


thanks for a really great day out and good company as well as an opportunity to try out my machine again.. I am pretty much hooked I think and even slowly coming round to the thoughts of maybe not keeping it stock..

hope everyone else is home safe and warm... and drive safely tomorrow northerners...

I'd expected it to dry out on its own while we were at pizza hut and by the time I stopped gabbing and went out to check it I was last to leave.. just adds a bit of colour to an already pretty colourful day :crazy_driver:

yes mate no worries he said we will all meet up at B's 20 for 9-30 (think i will have to top up with a bit of dizel in the morning) :rolleyes: think i had a bit more lead in me right shoe today :D

If I don't get much sleep I'll send you both a text when I get in so you can start without me and then ring you to see about meeting up when I wake up. Fingers crossed I'll be ok though

Just a quick post to say a very big thank you - I really enjoyed myself today once the dreaded hangover had gone on its merry way.

Hopefully will c u again soon :)

ps Dad likes the new improved??? sounding "special" lol so it won't be fixed soon - esp. going on his current rate of progress on Tufftee!!

Ur right i got into trouble !

Hair of dog good but after 3 hours sleep - the hangover was probably better than being still tipsy esp. being a passenger in the "special" :p

Well the damn rain has made the freebie look horribly streaky, so while I improved my MPG by removing a ton of mud, the rest came off too. The inside however remains testament to the day! :D
I think I will call RAC man to my work and ask him to put his computer on the case of the intermittent engine!
Current symptoms are; start engine - management system (EMS) fine, drive down the road a while before an 'oscillating' noise is heard (like a crusty dry wheel) with associated surges in power, EMS light comes on and minimal power only. Stop, turn engine off then on, rev engine, all seems ok EMS light then goes out, power back available. Drive down the road....... oscillating noise.... etc
Think I should..... 'it it wiv an 'ammer!

To all the new faces and old hands who came along for the trip - it was nice to put faces to names of some more Landyzoners, we hope everyone enjoyed the day.
We're assuming you all did from the sheer number of smiling faces near the end, hope the slow service at Pizza Hut at the end of the day didn't dampen your spirits too much.

Well done S*L*U*Ts for pulling together and 'making it happen'.​

Considering we had a month to put together a trip from nothing after one of our overly keen members jumped the gun......... AGAIN! :mad:. (Cant knock his enthusiasm really :rolleyes: ).
Don't think we did too badly at all. :bounce:

Hats off to the guys in the Freelanders who not only had the balls to bite the bullet and come along but quickly grasped the spirit of off roading and were more than giving it large in their motors.
I'm impressed guys.
And as for the 'Speshul Vee-hi-cul', well, apart from Daft having problems with his backbox it did really, really well.

I'm in the process of uploading piccies so you should have some sort of momento to upload in a bit. :)


I'm sorry if I seemed a little tired/grouchy/rude toward the end of the day, my energy levels are not what they once were, I had two days in hospital last week and hopefully I will find out what's wrong when I go back to hospital for tests in 10 days time. :eek:




THIS WILL BE THE FINAL S*L*U*Ts BIG DAY OUT OF 2008!!​

Hopefully we will have a couple of days out in the winter to find new, interesting areas to use in another 'S*L*U*T*Fest' next spring.
