So it looks like I should use Dynax:

Hydrate 80 to convert rust
S50 for cavities
UB for underbody

I emailed bilt last year.. here's a reply you might find useful

I'm hoping for advice on treating a rusty land rover defender chassis.

My plan is to wire brush as much surface rust as possible, then treat
using deox c.

Should I then prime, paint and then use s50 and ub? Or should I use
s50 directly on the treated surface to allow it to creep into any
missed parts?

I plan to flush the inside chassis out, allow to dry then s50 the inside.

Deox C is a crystalline material that need to be dissolved in water to form a bath. It can be applied to a surface with a brush, we have known it be filled into hollow section left to work then drained. This would be followed by wax injection.

For you though the question is how much time you would be willing to spend mechanically cleaning the exterior surfaces. The fastest way and with excellent results would be to coat with dynax S50 then use dynax UB. Or you could be very thorough with cleaning back use hydrate 80 the epoxy mastic. This second route gives a much harder finish than the waxes, which is good if a lot of off road work is envisaged.

All the best

have any of you used POR 15 rust system.
I have used it once but van has not moved since so cannot really use it as an example. The degreaser is amazing, used on alloys they are like new in seconds. there is also a zinc coating fluid which certainly coloured the steel.

check out frost restoration near me in Rochdale

I've not used POR15 before but it does have a good rep. I did read up on it a while back and the prep needed for it seems a lot of work. I would be inclined towards the bilt hamber epoxy mastic though - as said earlier, if it's bilt hamber then it's going to be superb.

The American Jeep chaps love their POR15. It's like a religion.
I have ordered some Bilt Hamber rust removal soak stuff so I will report back via 'Dave Smith's Freelander' thread. If it cleans up my calipers then buy some at once!

Not being cheeky i run one myself , i;ve owned defenders ,disco, range rover classic and series ,when i got the freelander at least i dont spend most weekends welding anymore ,
