I also have to add
but adding extra gauges like fuel pressure gauges oil /booooost /transmission temp / the list can go on

these are not just toys ..these gauges helps us humans understand and come more well experienced on how the vehicle performs .... and most of the time they also help to diagnose a fault

I did a lot of tuning and mods on petrol engines way back when. But no never played with tuning diesels other than the odd pump tweaks, did serve a good part of my time on them though if that helps but that is a long time ago. I take it you like playing with things then and are a Nox producer of note?

Does that mean people fit them because they don't really know what they are doing? :D

No don't worry i know what EGT is. What exactly do you do for a living?

The turbo is fine! I dont rev it like a **** not even when i drive! It is definitely in the torque converter area though and a inspection of the plate is a good place to start. Its fair to presume at this mileage and with all the cars history at hand, its only ever had the one box fitted and never rebuilt at any point. It may need some attention pretty soon... but thank you for your input, good points made but I dont abuse the old girl. Hope you didn't think that.

it appears that I did read the post correctly

here is a VGT turbo .the veins on the out side adjust to load they move just like a waste gate would... the veins slide in and out of the turbo housing

glorified operation of a waste gate but this system run more efficient than a normal internal waste gate ..means less boost spikes and a smoother boost curve

notice how the vein housing has cracks this would jam up when up to operating temps resulting in a stuck waste gate once it cooled down it was good

That does not answer any questions, it's just a photo of components, maybe in the place you sweep up and make tea in. I don't need to do research. I don't do anything for a living.

Wammers old chap, we have a lot of little fellows come to us here in the antipodes from many places overseas, Aisia in particular, that got their trade tickets sweeping the floors in this or that car assembly plant in their country of origin, many of them get in on "special" work visas because they have a certificate saying "mechanic" and because we are a "laid back" lot and these folks will work for a lot less money, they get to play in our workshops, whilst we pay for them to make a good guess at what the problems with our vehicles are.
But I digress, not saying this fellow is one of them there but he certainly is telling you he knows his stuff, but is obviously sworn to secrecy, so it must be important stuff........must it not?
Chaps like us, well we are just, well, silly od farts, dunno nuffin mate!
