Hi , I´ve bought a kit from rswsolutions for my troublesome eas , when I finally found the right com port in my computer , the car and my computer don´t cooperate, the "idle button" is flickering like h--l and shows "no idle" most of the time , any ideas where to search for oxidation , damaged Cables and so on in the obd2 ??

Do i have to remove the Seat compleatly ?
I sprayed the socket without any difference , so the Ecu is the next thing to be sprayed

In my paper pack from rsw it does say to set the lap top to US English (its a guy from the US as is his software). Mine doesn't work if its on UK English.
Give it a go, hopefully will sort it.

That should not make any difference as the keyboard is not being used.

Mine will not work if the system language is in UK English. The manual says 'the system language MUST be set to "English (United States)". This step is very important and necessary for the correct function of the device with the Range Rover'.
Thought it was worth a try anyway.

Mine works fine with UK English

Mine is set to UK English and I have no problem.

My 2000 model V8 had a badly corroded OBD Port due to the air con drains being blocked and water dripping through the socket.

This was causing all sorts of trouble for my EAS software and other diagnostic kit.

I sorted the drains first, then went to a scrap yard and found a couple of more modern Japanese cars that had a very similar OBD port with more pins attached than mine.

I bought a couple so that I could make one good one up, they only cost me £2

Then I cut out the old port and soldered in the new one using heat shrink tubing to protect my joints.

Once completed, the EAS software ran perfectly as did my other bits of OBD software.

I also remember in the dim and distant past that COM Ports on a PC do have some shared resources.

COM1 and COM3 used to share things as did COM2 and COM4.

Check to see which port you are using and then check that nothing is using the related one e.g.

If you have picked COM1, check to see if something else (trackpad, mouse, old modem) is using COM3 - if there is, try using COM2 and check COM4 too.

Not sure if newer versions of Windows have overcome this problem or if it is still a real issue.

Worth checking though.

Comm port conflicts are not uncommon.

Will try to get one of my computerintrested friends to come over for a few pints and some bbqed Wild boar , ´cause I am one of those who has no patience and think two buttons is one to many , will keep you guys updated ..

IT`S alive!!!!, or at least it was , I managed to use the rsw kit , got a few faults , and when I unplugged it, the Range Rover was getting up like a camel , though , when I went for a little drive and were trying the hights I soon realised that something went wrong again , It didn´t rise , and when I got it in acces mode , it stayed there , The strange thing is , that I can´t clear the eas as I did the first time , I can run the compressor via the computer and the iding shows green all the time,Any ideas ??
