Hi ach and all - I am trying to get to the bottom of the many issues with my RRS Automatic - hopefully with your help I will be able to pin down the specific problems - I crtainly know my way round a car but this RRS is virgin territory to me - so without further ado

I have a drive issue - it selects gears perfectly - and displays the gears perfctly on the dashboard - no clunks during selection - no gearbox warning lights/codes displayed on the clocks HOWEVER

It slips during drive and kind of shudders but gets nowhere, some very strange grinding juddery noises that seem to be worse when the wheels are turned - I even heard what sounded like metal scraping on the floor ( although I am sure there isnt ) I think if you increase your revs it kind of gets easier and smoths out a bit

I do also have other issues/warning mssages ABS/HDC/ ETC ETC but will address them after this -

I did an ECU scan and got NO gearbox fault codes on the first scan - the second scan I got the following, using a Delphi DS-150E

Gearbox (Gearbox - Diagnose - AT)
DTC Description No fault codes

- CAN: communication fault with IC (Instrument Cluster) - Permanent U0155

Gearbox (Transfer case - Diagnose - MT/AT)
DTC Description No fault codes

- Lost communication with steering angle sensor module - Intermittent U0126

U0122 - Lost Communication With Vehicle Dynamics Control Module - Intermittent

One thing I must add is that my delphi code reader would not communicate with the RRS,s ECU so I put the vehicle in as a Discovery 3 which has the same engine and it worked fine

Now my thinking is that this is not a gearbox issue but possibly a Front diferential issue, maybe transfur box, ETc - so any advice, opinions, ideas, test procedurs would be greatly appreciated - step on is obviously pinning down the mecanical fault - I have uploaded the PDF code fault list for those who are brave enough to read it lol

Thanks everyone - Darren

Whats Mileage and has it had a gearbox service..

The ZF6hp26 is bulletproof however if not serviced with the right oil, Lifegard 6 at the right interval it will be unhappy.

Also the ZF will leak out of the megatronix adaptor seal after a while and the sump gasket.

Have a look underneath and see if there are any leaks, reason for this is, the gearbox oil could be quite low.

But considering the noises it's making its probably already shyte the bed.

TQ could also of fallen on it's face, again due to lack of servicing being overloaded or a mixture of both.

Also check CV's and propshaft UJ's but considering it slips in drive i'd be inclined towards gearbox.

Not sure of the gearbox service as I have only just got it - the milage, of which is garenteed is 94.700 - a few other points are

It only seems to do it when the engine warms up - just been round the block in it from cold and nothing -

And when sat inside the vehicle I can hear a kind of rotational noise - kind of hard to explain but I can hear something rotating in line with engine rotation under the vehicle in the gearbox area - kind of low and rubmbling - once I have the problem identified I will get to work on it - the problem seems to be identifying the case of this problem
