Cheers everyone!
My range rover sport 2006 is our seasonal vehicle that is only driven 6 months per year.
It sits in our garage and i turn it on from time to time. The right height on the screen is on standard, but technically its on access mode. It used to calibrate by its own to the normal height. Now its doesn't.
I also realized that while moving. It also used to raise and lowers preferably, but it also doesn't calibrate by its own, i have to do it manually while driving.
I have no fault codes on the dashboard or on the read-only scanner that i have.
Is there a way i can reset it? It's driving me crazy.

Around 2 years give or take...
It's just a punt, given you pretty much lay it up for half the year.

Have you tested it or had it tested at all?

Poor battery is the 'go to' on any range rovers of these era and can cause little glitches like what you're experiencing.

As for resetting...you could do a battery disconnect then touch the disconnected leads together, but best wait 20 minutes to allow all modules to 'sleep' before you do that.

Hi

with the engine running and looking at the screen , when u put it into off-road height was does the screen say plse , does it say , access, normal or off road height plse

also with the engine on and in normal ride height , can u measure from the centre of the wheels to the bottom of the wheel arches in mm, then let us know what they are plse , thks

We can then walk u though what’s needed depending on the above results

plus what diagnostics are u using plse

many thks

Thank you for your help!
I will get back to you tomorrow concerning the heights.
Concerning the off-road, yes its says off road height normally.

Ur so welcome and always a team forum effort

so that good, with the screen relating to the suspension in reading the same, as with the 3 x heights u have , once selected it should stay in those settings, unless of course u become grounded to which it will automatically raise to another 2 x extended heights or on the motorway will drop slightly I think it’s over 70mph , but will see what the heights in standard are first before going into it deeper

indeed Plse let us know and we can then go from there

I'm sorry for the late reply, but i had the chance to do everything today.
I puted the settings on offroad and it raised normally.
Then placed it in standard height and measured it like you instructed.
Front left 460 mm
Rear left 460 mm
Front right 460 mm
Rear right 470 mm
I have attached some images for the offroad settings.

hi

Thks for the details, so the fronts should be 466 and rears 485mm so there out, particularly the rears

in that case really need diagnostics so u can recalibrate them to their correct height , in the same token with diagnostics u can check the compressor PSI output

alas with suspension and know to well after having to rebuild mine of the various items linked to one another and how just one thing can cause it to not act as it should

so apologises for all the questions, it’s just so we can work through it step by step to ensure at each stage it’s working 100% before moving onto something else

May i also check a few things plse

1) raise suspension to off road height , pull fuse F26 in the engine bays fuse box and leave overnight , see if it drops plse

2) when u start the engine and suspension starts to raise, does it raise at the front or rear first , if u didn’t notice , drop it to access height , get someone to sit in the landy and raise the suspension to off road height , watch it carefully which end raises first plse

From the readings it sounds like it just needs calibrating with diagnostics however need to ensure systems are 100% , ie the compressor is working correctly and there isn’t any leaks anywhere as they can cause all sorts of issues

plus with these vehicles being very complicated having ur own diagnostics and multimeter is really a must, otherwise ur spend a fortune if replying on garages

thks

Thank you for your reply.
I will do the off-road height tonight.
I tested the battery.
10volts when engine off.
13 volts when engine on.
Is that normal?

no probs

that’s battery is dead at those voltages , should be a min of around 12.6 Vdc with the engine off and around 14.6 Vdc with the engine on, so plse give that a charge overnight , as an average the batteries last around 5 x years

would u mind having a look to see what make, AH and CCA readings are as we can then tell u if it’s big enough

awesome , so the valve blocks are doing what there suppose to be doing , must raise at the back first , all part of anti glare headlight design

Yes plse, let us know what the other results are and can go from there, but indeed need to sort that battery out first

hope that helps a little

Your voltage seems on the low side. Can you fully charge it? Or test will a fully charged battery?
Gary will know exactly what it should be ;)

hiya

Indeed ur spot on , system will go nuts with a low battery , lighting up the dashboard like a xmas tree

need at least 12.6 Vdc with the engine off and around 14.6Vdc with the engine running

fingers crossed can get it sorted out

ps, hope ur good

Hiya . All well here. Will drop you and Candy a msg soon :)
I think we were typing at the same time on that one. I knew that for the L322 that would make them sulk , and throw all types of faults, but wasn't sure on the DiD :D

Great to hear ur good, many thanks

indeed thought that when I just refreshed the page, lol , , oh yes the DiD and D3/4 all throw a wobbly with a low battery , no surprise there being a Land Rover ;)

I really appreciate your help guys, the battery is definitely older than 5 years, i will try and see if it can be charged first and if I cant i surely need ro change it, its about time anyways.
I will check everything you asked from me and get back to you.
One more thing. I disconnected the battery poles for 20 minutes and the did a reset with touching both chordes together.
While i was waiting i tested the battery with no poles. It says 12v. After 20 minutes and before connection it read 11v. I don't know if this makes a difference, just letting you know.
All is appreciated thank you so much.

If you're saying the battery has been fully charged off the car and is dropping to 11v while still off the car/disconnected, then it's dead and you need a new one

At 5 yr old , and having been at that voltage for an unknown amount of time, I would say bite the bullet. The crystals have probably sulfated.
