Freelander 1 Rotten headliner?

I recently bought a really cheap freelander with a couple issues to sort out one being a rotten and mouldy headlining.

I cant seem to find an actual replacement one and wondered if anyone had any recommendations on what to do? I have sealed the sunroof now so the problem should be gone that originally made it wet.

Polystyrene tiles maybe?

Is the material just falling away from the rigid liner or is the rigid liner perished?

If the rigid liner is OK, remove it and recover it, you can buy the nessesary material and glue.

If the rigid liner is shot, then get a decent 1 from a breakers. You'll probably be best to put new material on it as its out of the vehicle, rather than doing it again in a year's time!

Just recover it as GG said. It's not difficult to do, and the material is cheap. You should be able to buy sufficient material and the glue, and sharp knifes for £50.

This is most useful to me too as my headliner is heading south pretty sharpish aswell, and I like to keep my FL interior as spick and span as I can. I predict an impending lockdown job.

It's one of the advantages of a 3-door, our roof liner is hard plastic like so won't succumb to this. My RRC however, on that particular its the foam that fails rather than the fabric or glue that fails, but I've still the same job to do to fix it. I'm really not looking forward to 31 year old plastic trim panels to do the headlining.

That's what happens. The fabric cover and backing board is fine, but the urethane foam layer breaks down over time, causing it to crumble, which means it can't hold the fabric up any more, so it sags.
