Any suggestions welcome, since buying my Disco 2 a few weeks back the reversing lights don't work. I've changed the bulbs and changed the switch on the gearbox but to no avail. Anyone else had this issue before?

Only simple stuff. Have you put a meter across the connector to the switch to check for continuity when it is on?, i.e . is it being properly actuated in the box?
Then have you checked there is power to the bulb? Ditto the switch?
Is the bulb holder clean and the spring springy enough to ensure a good connection?
With each wire have you checked for continuity at both ends? Ditto short to earth?
Having looked at the wiring diagram, there is a connection to the BCU so it has a role in all this, how much of a role I do not know, at which point apart form saying good luck, I'll leave it to others. At least it isn't an MOT failure! (Page 43.1 on Rave manual for circuit diagram)

Hi Kee,
I assume it's a manual? I had a problem with my switch and replaced it with an oem one but that didn't sort it so used genuine LR and all good. If you try everything suggested and still have no joy, it's probably due to wear on the part that pushes the switch in on the bottom of the gear lever.

As far as I know, it still isn't illegal to wire in a manual reversing light switch as long as it has a warning light, either in the switch or somewhere on the dash. As far as I can tell, reversing lights only warn people behind you that you are moving backwards. They don't actually illuminate much, unlike the reversing lights fitted by many Mini enthusiasts in the old days which were as bright as a driving light and actually showed you where you were going when you had to turn round down a country lane.

have you checked the connection plugs behind rear bumper

manual or auto? if manual, have you tried to push the gear lever more to the right? if it works then, it is the switch in the gearbox which does not reach the sleeve.
I had similar issue which was solved by modifying the switch.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I've checked it all and it turns out the bloke before me has just cut straight through the wires underneath the bumper so going to have to replace it
