Hi All

Help needed I have a 1971 SWB series 3 2.25 petrol.

All Gears are fine except reverse.

When I try and engage reverse gear, from a gear stick point of view it feels as though it is in, but you get the sound that sounds like the gearbox cogs/teeth just touching but not quite engaging Hope this makes sense
any ideas what the problem could be ?

Thanks in advance :)

My reverse too sounds very rough, i think it has the same problem as a spare box i stripped down in that the reverse bearing and shaft was very worn, if its not engaging at all with no drive the selector fork may be very worn not pushing the gear as far as it needs to go or it could be the pinch bolt loose or off which may not move the selector fork at all (see pic)
