They apparently snap cranks for fun. Fixing it will probably cost more than the car is worth.

If the crank has really sheared, then the block is also scrap.
Time for a replacement engine - don't go the 'recon' route, it's likely already had a failed crank, buy a used one, replace the oil pump, belts and swap the injectors & turbo over.

If you can source an engine, we can do it - you'd need to get the vehicle and engine to Derby though.

I thought it was only the 3.0 that's had the bluetooth crankshaft, I have learned today (again).
2.7 was first major headline news crank fail, then the 3.0 came out and everyone said it was much better, guess what they were lying! Later models were meant to be better, guess what?
People said it was because the main bearing shells had no tabs, they were of course full of shti, the td5 has no tabs and has zero issues with the shells.
Then they said it was the oil pump, the casing did have a fault which threw the cambelt off! but the actual oil pump was okay.

Basically most Land Rover engines are crap
200 snaps cranks/blow head gaskets
300 loves a head gasket and a cambelt heads cna be an issues as well
td5 head gasket again and oil pump bolt
All the above still running will be good motors.

Tdv6, sdv6, ingenium, even the petrols are crap, and anything else modern prepare to bend over.

Ford engine, innit?!

It is a very short engine and I think they had to balance the size of the oil feed holes against strength and in reducing the size of the hole setup a situation where the slightest buildup of deposit restricts the oil feed and it overheats with catastrophic consequences.

Talking of engines I wonder if the petrol V8 comes out as one of their most reliable engines ?
