Repair a tail door window regulator

Used this thread to help me when my rear window gave up, luckily I'd realised it was about to go last week (when I was changing the driver's door lock due to that other Freelander favourite problem) and had ordered a kit off teabay....it arrived this morning which was lucky as the window dropped yesterday afternoon and stayed dropped!.

But I ran into problems straight away, for some reason I just couldn't get the cables to fit and keep the window clamps level. A quick browse on the bay again, looking at photos of full regulators, showed that there is more than one way to fit them, and that my car had a few bits missing (looks like it's had some work done in the tailgate before - the cut membrane was a bit of a give-away) and after another half hour I was able to get it ready to re-fit in the morning, rain permitting - have to keep it dry just in case I decide to burn it......

Ok, so just repaired my tailgate regulator, must just say big thanks, if it wasn't for the help of you guys/gals on here would of been dam site harder! All working perfectly, took a few attempts to get cable set up propery but happy with it now. The kit I purchased off eBay was spot on!

Aha - a possible lifesaver.

I've spent 4 HOURS on this hateful job tonight, and ended up giving up and jamming the window up with wood until the weekend. Now I've got pictures, it should be a lot easier (especially if I can get the tension right, which I think has been my problem tonight).

Get a new regulator, or it will all have to come off again!

It WAS a new regulator (or new cables anyway) - unfortunately didn't get it tight enough and everything wound itself round the spool (I think one of the cables is possibly too long as well). Off tomorrow to by some brake cable and try that way instead.

Hello im new to this site and my god me and the wife have had plenty problems with our td4.

I now have this same problem and I spotted this kit below on amazon can any of you please tell me if this will defo fit my Freelander TD4 06 plate so I can try and do the repair myself as yes the cables have broke

Landrover Freelander Tailgate Electric Window Regulator Repair Kit- Rear Window (Cables, Winder, Fastenings) - FREE FIRST CLASS UK POSTAGE!

I don't want to pay £95 for a full new system that I found on the internet if this will do the job and looking at the kit on amazon does it appear that the cables are already cut to size

Have to disagree Essex!, this is a classic thread from Michielvdv, if all info is gathered into one thread............ all the more helpful to fixing the problem (assuming there are no dead links)

Right guys need help on this I bought a full new assembly unit with motor was only £99... however I cant get the damm thing to work as it should... a few times it did and now I have managed to get the window up using the key in the backdoor so have left it alone for now.
I have no problem getting the window down but it does not seem to want to go up using the contol inside the car any ideas please as I need this fixed so the back wiper works as the MOT is due next month

Faulty switch on dash perhaps. You need to power the window up with it to recallibtate the window control.
Would explain it still beeping.

Oh and rear wiper isn't testable. Just like reverse lights.!

have you ever had the rear wiper working?... lf its faulty the dash switch for the window wont work iirc...pull the wiper fuse then the dash switch should work to recalibrate the window then you can put the fuse back in to see if the wiper works :)

Yes I had the wiper working... think I have gone wrong in the calibration of the door as I had it open and not closed, so gonna disconnect the battery negative for half and hour tomorrow and try again

The length of these wires are not good, anyone knows other lengths....
