Removing the injectors

A couple of questions:-

1) Do I need the 'special tool'? If not, what is the best method for getting the injectors out?
2) If I do need the special tool, where do I get one? A quick google hasn't been overly fruitful.
3) I know the injectors have to go back in the same hole, but if I was to replace them for whatever reason how do I code them back to the ECU? Will a nanocom/hawkeye/lynx do the do?

I used a 18" length of m10 threaded rod with a nut on one end and a unistrut rail nut on the other. Hook the rail nut under the injector and use like a slide hammer with a heavy tool, or just fork out for a cheap slide hammer. Quite an easy job to do, just be clean around the injector holes. Make sure you replace the copper washer AND the O rings. Not sure about coding the injectors though.

Cool, slide hammer it is. I'm not sure what a unistrut rail nut is and google doesn't help much! I'm sure it's obvious if you know though.

So, just so I'm sure - hook something under the injector and give it a yank and it should come right out?

Just done mine used a 6mm allen key with the short end ground to an angle.timing marks behind top sprocket to set each inj.where you located.

Recently did mine using the below idea thanks to Sierrafery. Just took my time doing one at a time so as not to muddle them up

Did mine with a home made tool, piece of 25 mm steel, bent into a long 'N', small lip at the bottom facing inward, for hooking under the injector

Threaded rod through the top , bit of steel pipe on the rod and a big washer an nut at the top, - home made slide hammer

No need to re-code either, just lay them out on a bench and don't muddle them up

The lifters need reset though, screw them home on full lift, then back off a full turn

use genuine seals, and make sure all is spotlessly clean

takes about an hour
