Hello to all, hope all are safe.
My daughter just bought a 2006 TD4 HSE (smart girl......130k. it fail the mot because of bulbs, brake pads and leak on back silencer.....so she got it for 200POUNDS??!?!!!! it runs like a dream..jeeeee some people are lucky)
But the thing is it has only one key but no remote is it possible to get one?

You'll need a device capable of programming the car's security. I think more of the 'top end' (expensive) ones will do that, but not so sure about the lower priced ones. The PScan fella (@pscan.eu ) talked quite a bit about what can and can't be done through diagnostics on a thread on here a few months ago, his device looks to be able to do what you need...

If you can get a fob cheap, cheaper than that remotekey, it might be a good way of getting value of the investment in a diagnostic device. Just make sure it can program fobs.

A cheap way of getting two keys only in exchange for a slight reduction in security would be to buy a couple of key blanks on ebay - get them cut to match your one key - then tape your one good key under the plastic onto your ignition switch.
The new inert keys will work for you as the car will sense the chip in your good key - Then at least you have a usable key and a spare

A 2006 will have a SAWDOC immobiliser. If you want a key (which contains the transponder chip which allows the engine to start) then the easiest way is to buy one from a Landrover dealer. They are about £130 I think and come with a transponder chip already matched to your car.

pscan can access the SAWDOC but all it can do is "enable" or "disable" transponders. it's possible that the key from Landrover will be already "enabled" and so it will just work, but if it needs to be "enabled" then pscan can do it.

For the remote central locking fob you can buy a used one on ebay. TXA and TXB look similar but are for Rovers with 5AS immobilisers and won't work on a Freelander. Our one has 17TN fobs. I would say that you need 17TN.

pscan is able to code in used alarm fobs.

If you only have one key I would consider getting another. No fob is inconvenient but you will still get home. Loose that one key and you are in a world of pain with the vehicle off the road for some time. The chip in the key is picked up by a coil on the ignition barrel and it's an extremely secure system. To get round it a locksmith would have to get to the SAWDOC ECU and physically remove it to hack it. They are underneath the dash, so the whole dash has to be lifted, with many hidden screws. I did it once and it was an utter nightmare. It's way, way easier to get a second key now and program it in whilst you have one working.
 
Hi. I have a free1 2005.
Made a copy in a general key duplicate store, not necessarily specialiced in cars. They has a chip reader, copy the original key and record the transponder in the second key.
Open doors and start engine without problem.
I'm interested too in how buy and codify second remote control.
 
Isn't there a method using ignition on-off in combination with bonnet switch ? or is this only for early models ?

The models prior to the EWS3D immobiliser had an EKA code. Models with an EWS3D or SAWDOC immo don't have an EKA code. I think that's what you are referring to.
