Will be getting engine back this week. Rebore, pistons, rings, bearings etc etc.

What's the wisdom on running in these days? Also will I need to re-torque head after a while. Have also read something sometime about priming the turbo with oil on re-start?

what engine, aliminum head wont need retorque ,but even so diesels want hard work no free revs or idling, pootling about will glaze bores ,a good motorway run or hill and trailer etc

from the start ,dont leave it idling for long periods ,and if you normal driving is local short journeys etc give it a could hard run for an hour or so first then regulary every month later

if you pull stop solenoid wire and turn engine over tilll oil pressures up that will lube turbo and bearings etc ,then replace and start engine
