I'm new to this forum, if not to ownership of Land Rovers (I have a Defender 200tdi and L322), but I would very much welcome recommendation(s) from like-minded owners.
With almost 200k miles on the clock and a blown head gasket, I decided it was time to refurb my 1993 200tdi engine. It's now out and I'm in the process of stripping her down to the basics. I've already sent off the turbo (leaking oil etc) and fuel injector pump & injectors for servicing/refurb.
Very clearly I'll need many new parts including engine internals, gasket sets, seals, hoses, new clutch etc etc. I anticipate that I'll be obliged to open my wallet pretty wide - and not for the first time!
I would seek recommendations on the best (e.g. in terms of good quality products at a reasonable price) parts suppliers please? I'm not a fan of BritPart, but I am at a bit of a loss as to the best alternative source. Help and advice and recommendations please. Many thanks. TimRB

Welcome to the forum.

Though I have a Disco 2 V8, I've had great dealings with JGS4x4 for prices and quality parts. Ordered parts @ 11am Monday and received the parts next day Tuesday @ 1pm from Kettering to BSE.

Many thanks Mike, I'll give them a go. I'll let you all know how I get on.

200,000 miles? Just run in! Mines done 229,000 & pulling like a train. Had it since new (well the company I worked for did) in 1992 so I know it’s had nothing done to the engine. The rest, however, is like Triggers broom.

I know exactly what you mean...did I mention the new chassis, replacement transfer box (fm D2), the replacement rear axle (also fm D2)..........etc etc!
Finished stripping the engine and fairly impressed. Almost no wear in bores but pistons/rings a tad tired. Crank looks OK but definitely need new shells. Cam looks OK too. About to strip the head down, but I expect I'll need new valve guides. Turbo leaking oil and everything just a bit too loose, so that's being refurbed. Fuel injector pump had begun to leak so that's been done, along with the worn injectors. Ain't going to be cheap this rebuild! No surprise there then.
