Rear tailgate door speakers

I have a 2003 DS2 with 2 Harman Kardon AMR5511 rear door tailgate bass speakers that are completly knackerd, the foam support surrounds having disintergrated. I am looking to replace them and have scanned the various threads on a good replacement withut any sucess. The spec is 6.5" low frequency woofer, 4 ohms 30 watt handling. I think the Harman Kardon amplifier is located under the passenger seat and drives the two units seperatly with bass cross over integral to the amplifier.
I guess the question is, as these units are prone to mechanical failure such as I am experiencing, has a suitable replacement been sourced tht works well in the limited standard enclosure space of the rear sub woofer box?

Beware many aftermarket speakers won't have the same sensitivity as the OE speakers (dB/W) - so unless you add a separate balance control to reduce the output from all the other speakers, you replacement rear door speakers won't be noticable.
the speakers you've identified are not great at 88dB / W. I think OE is something over 92 dB/W

I ended up fitting a larger diameter speaker with built-in power amplifier - that way I can balance the speaker output to match the rest of the system.
PS Failure is common as the speaker surrounds do rot with time or the cones get damaged by water when the door's left open when it's raining

Thanks for your input Pawl and I guessed that the fitted Harman Kardon AMR5511 speakers would be matched to the complete system and unless there is a seperate bass level control within the amplifier to the rear feed, then it has to be done by the sensitivity of the speakers/enclosure.
I have sourced these https://www.thompsonsltd.co.uk/prod...-midwoofer-paper-midbass-mid-bass-driver.html which match the spec and have a sensitivity of 94dB at 1W/m and a frequency responce of 60Hz to 5Khz . They look to be cheap Chinesse imports, hence they are cheap.
Also I am in touch with Harman Kardon to see if they can assist, but I am not holding my breath

OK, this is the easy and cost effective way of sorting the problem of failed rear tail gate door sub woofer foam surrounds. Don't bother buying after market replacements unless you are going to upgrade the whole system and to be truthful the Harman Kardon 360w 12 speaker system isn't bad at all. Just repair the existing matched subs.

Then for grand sum of £6.95 you have solved the problem and hopefully learnt the skills to do the door bass units when their surrounds fail too.

Hints:

1. The speakers will leave the case with the application of a rubber/nylon mallet on the rear magnet (they are glued into the case) When reassembling use a smidgen of silicon to seal them again.

2. Ensure the speaker frame and outer cone are clean regarding old foam.

3. The use of a battery (1.5v) helps lift the cone for glueing purposes.

4. Ensure the speaker cone is centred within the voice coil during and on completion of the process.

5. Re solder the wiring ensuiring it is excatly the same as before.

There you go, problem sorted for the price of a couple of Wiltshire pub pints
