+1 my mate got a on the spot fine for not having the above:eek:

got my plates from main dealer bushbury land rover its that simple

How come everybody who has number plates without all that on them don't get spot fines then? There is nothing in the MOT test that covers that, only the colour of plates and character layout and spacing.

I thinks it's down to how much the police want to nick you & what excuse they want to pull you over. Driving around at 19 in a Corsa with incorrect plates is going to end up with a tap on the windscreen from PC Plod. I doubt they would bother with a RR unless pimped out & underpigeoned.
That said, i got mine from Hafrauds so all good.

I would imagine in the same way that not everyone with defective lights, talking on a mobile phone or no road tax doesnt get pulled. Doesnt mean we should ignore the law tho,

Only a really anal traffic cop running low on their "target" will pull someone for minor plate violations. Most couldn't be bothered with the paperwork or negative PR that comes with it. However it might get flagged in an MoT Test. I had a plate with the thin border around it but no manufacture mark or BS stamp. Had to get the plate replaced. If it was plain white (was front plate) I would've got away with it.

borders are allowed - as is a country flag, or eu symbol.

i got pulled by the plod in my rs turbo, they tried telling me my letters wern't correctly s[paced. made them get the tape measure out lol. That ****ed them off so they done me for not displaying a tax disc! ****s:frusty:

There is nothing in the MoT Test about window tinting either, but there are legal limits.

Usually Plod won't pull minor issues because it makes them look like ****s. If it is obviously ****ered with (gay fonts and non-standard colours), they will tug you if nothing else is going on.

Not all numbers plates have those markings on them. A number plate should be made to the regulations in force at the time of first registration of the vehicle. Someone said it could be a MOT fail without them, it can't. Of course if the plate has none standard colours and letter spacing etc it will be pulled. Should also fail MOT.

I was at a cruise, they were trying anything to nick people!

Years ago I had a mondeo st24 that was lowered with 18" wheels and a cop at a cruise tryed telling me it was ilegal and dangerous as if I was on full lock and full compretion of the suspension it would foul the wheel arch and damage the tire
after a 20min discution about ill never be at full lock at any speed high enough to cause full compretion of the suspension he eventually agreed and did me for my blackd out rear lights!
he just wanted to show he had authority and do my for something!!

Think you are missing the point, only vehicles made after the legislation came in have to have the new style plates. Vehicles made before the law was changed i think in 2001 don't. Just as vehicles made before 1973 do not have to have reflective plates.
