MHM,
If that picture is of your pride and joy I suggest driving up a very steep hill, stopping half way up and opening the rear door. The next house I buy is going to be on a hill as my garage looks similar!

Ratty,
What you plan using the winch for, as I would of thought you would only be able fit in a compact and hence less powerful winch under the door?

It's a 12,000lb rated cheap ****ty Chinese winch like those found on ebay.

I'm a rescue technician so it'll get used for the winching, stabalising, pinning etc of vehicles up to and including 18ton. When I need to use a winch for my job, I REALLY need it to work. I don't fully trust my leccy winch which is why it's being replaced. I have a small 2000lb rated superwinch that I mount on the rear when I need to. With enough snatchblocks I can pull a 7.5ton truck with it. I trust that more than my 12,000lb winch.:D:D:D

The plan is to use the PTO one as my main winch and then replace the 2000lb rated emergency back-up with the 12,000lb one. I'll still keep my 2000lb rated one onboard for portable use but that will hopefully be it.

The back of my landy is always full. This is why I cannot have a swivel mount that goes on my tow ball which would be far better for spooling the cable properly. I need 2" of extra space between he bottom braces for my towball and the tank guard to fit the winch in. Alternatively I'll just bolt my old winch bumper to the rear crossmember and use that as the mount.

I want it to blend in and not look like a trials vehicle. Due to work use it still needs to look proffesional aswell as being functional.

Don't suppose you got a picture of how the tank it connected to the cross member?
Could you change it for a 90 fuel tank or would it be to much work?
