Hi all,
I am doing a dry run fit of the brake hoses and all ok except for a query on the rear hose.
Flat one end domed the other? The front ones are domed each end.
Answers on a postcard please with a ten pound note. :)

Agree , just did mine recently although didn’t use a washer , coming at the other end the long thread goes to female brake fitting and fixed to chassis

Tha flat end will go to the T piece, iirc sealed with a copper washer?
I am assuming that would be a copper crush washer?
On further examination the washer has to go down into the T piece as the shoulder of the flexi hose does not screw completely down

No washer not inside T piece put several on if need be.
Thanks for the input.
That seems a bit of a bodge to me. What was the original setup and what have others done in this situation?
Has anyone used a front flexi pipe in place of the rear one?

Look into the t piece. If it’s counter sunk you could use a front pipe as the T & pipe would mate tight.
If the inner T pipe is flat use the correct rear hose.

(When I done the S1 it was flat end & 1copper washer but T pieces have changed over the years)

Thinking about it, the front hose is shorter than the rear hose,
Only by a small amount, I wonder if that would be too short.

Had that hose for my rebuild and fitted no problem. I'll check tomorrow if there's a copper washer on the t piece.

Why not get a parts book pdf search for smithies landrover will bring up a NZ website with loads of pdf's

I have the parts book and pdf's, Nothing tells me why both front and rear T joints are identical but apart from length both hoses have a different fitting at one end. Question is why? I have found the Smithies page, plenty to read there cheers

Edit. I wonder if originally it had an olive fitted, just a thought.

Which version and what year landrover do you have as the tee pieces for swb pre 1980 are not the same front to back and threads are not the same post 1980.

1983 2.25 petrol swb all 10x1 mm except for rear cylinders. Fronts are discs and connectors need to be changed to metric too.
