I was going to try to get at it from behind the hub with a ratchet screwdriver first. less chance of applying off centre torque - ie won't 'pull' on it.

Promised to get back to you all about the types of flares and fittings on the F 1 when I had time. When I started replacing brake pipes on my project car I was surprised by the lack of clear details on what type of flare and what type of fitting to use. This seems to extend to auto parts...
Went and bought one of those. Didn't want to for just one bolt but a reciprocating saw wouldn't go in there and a pry bar was going to wreck the mounting plate. What an awesome but of kit - adjustable angle let me get right in there and it took the head off in a couple of minutes. Zero collateral damage. Thanks for the recommendation.
