Rear air bags

Hi all
And thanks for the info you have passed on so far,
I have a problem with the rear air bags not inflating I have check fuses and check pipes to the bags all ok
But with all the doors closed engine running I can not fell the compresser running.
Will or should the compresser run with the pipes disconnected ? Am I right in thinking the short pipe goes in the middle Union and the pipes to the bags go on the out sides Unions.

Hi Martin,
I have seen the advice given before of jacking the rear up on the tow bar and then trying. It's something to do with the RHS going out of range.

Has it failed due to overcycling, can you out it on diagnostics?

Thanks for the reply
I have just put the air bags back on and replaced the ride hight sensors with new ones,when I stared the repairs on the back end all was working fine I have now put on a new half chassis with all new parts and fittings to go with it .
everything was going well until I get to the air suspension I have just spent some hours out trying find the problem the only thing I have found is the compresser is not running but is makes a noise and seems to click on and off is there a way of testing the compressor?to see if it works.

You can test it with one of the dedicated diagnostic units. You have tried lifting the rear end up to bring the height sensors within range?

The recommendation is that whenever you work on the ride height sensors you disconnect the vehicle battery first. There is a possibility that if the work on the sensors was done without disconnecting the battery, the SLABS ECU might "forget" the height settings, in which case you're going to have to recalibrate the system.
