My rear 24 spline half shafts and other stuff I ordered the other day have more or less all arrived now so I will have them fitted at the weekend all being well
Looking good mate, reminds me that my Dad needs to order his new chassis as well. Keep up the good work!
if its a series axle you can only use series shafts both types are 10 spline diffSpent the day faffing about fitting the new rear half shafts which are now on but think I have the wrong ones as the new ones ( 24 ) spline at both ends with matching flanges use a circling to hold the half shaft to the flange but doesn't us a felt washer as they look like they are for axles that us seals in the stub axle so I need half shaft that are 24 spline at one end and 10 spline at the other end
they used rrc 10 spline diffs the reason for rrc is early rrc had a filler plug in the diff housing as only later series had a filler in the rear case the only 24 spline diff shafts used on a series are salisbury axle shaftsSo really I need a 10 spline Disco / Def diff.
I'm sure in the past when peeps fitted RR diffs which are both 10 and 24 spline they used shafts accordingly and presumed using a Disco diff wouldn't have been a problem but hay ho
You could get 24 spline series shafts from Ashcroft or Kam they do ones which are specificly made for series rear axels which have 24 splines at both ends, though you do have to get 24 spline drive flanges as well. Are right ok so back to searching for another diff, dam
