I have cleaned the header tank out and run the car a few times and so far there is no oil, however I am afraid to drive the car in case I do any damage. Don’t know what to doAliens?
Nope, sorry...haven't a clue. Someone sensible will be along shortly.
If you suck the black oil out off the top of the tank (use turkey baster or a bit of tubing) does the oil come back within a few days/miles?

Trouble is I purchased the car privately so no warranty. The other problem is buying the car has left me a bit short especially with no work at the moment. I am concerned that it may be the head gaskets from what I am seeing on the internet

Sorry, I didn’t mean to offend anybody, I appreciate that I am a new member so I am not used to this type of site. My car is a Range Rover Vogue TDV8 on an 09 plate. Vogue is a trim. It is always best to say which model. For example yours is an L322 ( I think, unless Gary says the Sport does a Vogue trim ) No worries. All is good. Well almost
I see you've managed to find the Range Rover section. Just hang around in there for a bit, do some searches for your issue. You can narrow down the search terms , if you use the drop down boxes. Someone will come along with possible solutions. As already advised diagnostics is a good idea.
