Dear All,

I've got a 1996 P38 4.0 SE. Got a few problems with it (quelle surprise I hear you say).

Can anyone recommend a good RR specialist in Warwickshire that I can take it to.

Whilst I'm on I might as well share the probs with you.

EAS Fault light just come on. I think it's stuck in the normal drving position. I'm thinking about a coil spring conversion. Anyone recommend it?

SRS Airbag light on. In fact no functions work at all on the steering wheel - horn, cruise control, whatever the other buttons should do. It turns alright though.

Tailgate switch is faulty - top half sometimes opens, bottom half doesn't.

Rear offside brake sticking slightly (intermittent).

Apart from that it's perfect.

And one more question. Where does the transmission box fluid go? It's showing a bit low on the dipstick but I can't find a nozzle for it. Surely it can't go in the dipstick tube? Jeez do I sound clueless or what?

Constructive comments welcome.

Cannot recommend a spring conversion - but that's just me.
However can recommend that you buy the lead (there's a couple of guys on here making them) and download the software and/or buy an EAS KICKER from Black Box (other diagnostic companies are available) for the suspension system. That way you can not only find the fault for yourself this time but you might save more garage bills in the future. Even if you don't want to repair it yourself knowing what's wrong before you put it into a garage is always a good thing, sometimes for your wallet!

There's a rotary connector behind the steering wheel that can give these faults. Not difficult to change, posts on here.

Either just remove the switch and give it a good clean with switch cleaner or just buy a new one.

O.K. if you're asking the other questions maybe you're not a mechanic so maybe get someone else to do the brakes.

As for the box, I haven't even got a dipstick, that's progress for you!

Good luck and welcome.
