hi there,

I am new to this forum I have got a Range Rover 2000 4.0 v8 and I love it to bits including all those 'niggly' and expensive faults....

I have recently noticed ( mainly because its very cold at the moment) if i start the car in the morning everything its fine but if i park the car and come back lets say about 2/3 hours later the car starts immediately revving around 1100/1200 rpm it then drops the rev in about 10/15 sec but then it start to run very ruff( i.e. it feels like it was an old car with manual choke still pulled out ) it does that for either a 2/3 seconds or it could do that for 30/40 seconds that depends from the outside temperature, after this time the rev keeps dropping to the correct 600/700 rpm and everything works OK. Its not a big problem in normal weather but now with temperature well below 0 its becoming very noticeable. I must say the airflow meter ,the water temp sensor and o2 sensors are new but it doesn't mean that they are not faulty. I thought about these 3 components because I believe these are the parts that the engine ECU uses to determine the correct fuel/air mix.

Am I wrong ?
Have I forgot some other sensors ?
Anybody any ideas?

thanks for reading

Hi there.
Mine has started doing this and a chap who is knows loads on this site said "air flow meter" which you say you have changed. Mine takes about ten mins to go smooth so i'm going to pop to the local guy's and see what they think.

I'll post my findings.

Cheers, Nick.

Hi nick,

Thanks for your replay,

I have actually changed 2 airflow in the last 6 months , first one was from ebay but it was faulty the second one I bouth it from land rover .As I said it doesn't last long and for instance this morning its about 8 degree here and no problem at all....
