Faulty in tank fuel pump is a possibility. Water in the fuel filter is another. How full was the tank?driving out today in the 2001 p38 and the revs dropped and the engine management light came on, i took my foot off the accelerator the engine management light went out and it was back to normal this happened twice today any suggestions many thanks steve
That sounds like the in tank pump has failed, cutting out with low fuel in the tank is the give away, with the tank over half full it may be OK except going up hill. You can check by dropping the fuel filter, putting a bowl under and turning on the ignition with the engine cold. The quantity that should come out is, I think 180ml, in 10 seconds, you can check in the tech archive for the correct figure. Thanks for the information mr datatek about my p38 cutting out it was quite low on fuel approx about quarter of a tank’ it’s happened three times up to now but it happened twice on one journey last week the only other time was about three months ago I’ve got another small problem no 1 and no 3 injectors are bubbling around the bottom of the injectors many thanks
Oooo gobbledygook, I love a bit of that.
Translation is fun !!Oooo gobbledygook, I love a bit of that.

A good option is to check. Connect some kind of whistle (for example) to the OBD connector. Due to old age, in addition to the fuel pump in the tank, the control nozzle (4 with wiring) may become strange. The varnish (in it) dries out and the windings dry out over time ,lives his own life.
The pump in the tank, at the factory, pumps a pressure of 0.5. If you connect it to the system (fuel), with a pressure gauge, you can see if everything is ok with this part.
The best thing to do is to remove the tank and wash it (inside) of any dirt. Over time, if it hasn’t been cleaned, there may be, in addition to water, a lot of other nasty things...
If the OP is in Russia, I doubt he has access to Google translate at the moment.Yes. Used google translate with Auto-Detect.
I thought it was 180ml in 10 seconds? No need for a pressure guage. Just bridge the relay and see if 250 ml comes out of the fuel filter in 30 seconds.
That's what wammers said. When I tested mine I got over that by 40ml and indeed, my car runs the same right up until I ran out (once).I thought it was 180ml in 10 seconds?
180 was the minimum figure, no problem with more. That's what wammers said. When I tested mine I got over that by 40ml and indeed, my car runs the same right up until I ran out (once).
Yeah I know. Just read (red)my post again and it was a bit gobbleycooky. .180 was the minimum figure, no problem with more.
