Hi
It is with much regret not to mention the gaping great hole in my wallet that due to a change in business direction I need to off load some of my toys.
If you look on the forum you'll see the posts from when I got it as a none runner.
Many and sincere thanks to all on here who helped me along the way, it now runs fine.
It's a 1999 model, originally a "T" reg, but has been put on a private plate (although god knows why, as I've no idea what its meant to say?) of D510 HMG if you want to look up the MOT history. Currently on 132800 miles which will go up slightly as I still use it occasionally. (used it for work last week for a day, 2hr drive either way and stop start during the day, and it drove faultless) Dark blue, which looks nice, with Grey leather interior. (Had the walnut fake trim, which I personally didn't like, so all been changed to black, but think I have some the old bits that have been taken off, which you are welcome too)
Has had a second hand, upgraded auto box from the 4.6 fitted, the engine and box now work perfectly. No starting issues and changes up and down beautifully. I have the (large!!) invoice for the professional fitting of it too.
Came with 20" Storm alloys that all have very good tyres on, with loads of life in them. In my opinion, they look really nice on it, but I'm not convinced they do anything for the handling? If i was keeping it, next thing I'd be sorting is all four wheels being balanced and full alignment, tracking, geometry check. Because it does have a bit of a shake around 65mph upwards. Does have spigot rings on, but they look plastic to me? So if balancing didn't sort it, I'd be swapping them for metal ones and proper/correct lug nuts just incase.
Everything works on it, all windows, roof etc (no leaks!). apart from the Steering wheel buttons. Horn has been relocated to a dash mounted button which works fine.
Inside is in excellent condition, rear and passenger seats look like hardly been sat in. Drivers seat is in very good condition. with just very small area of ware on out side edge. Again if keeping it, I'd be treating it with some leather repair stuff.
Roof lining is held up with press studs, which work ok as a cheap fix.
Boot carpet has seen better days but is ok. Some fool has spilt paint on the fold down plastic trim that covers the gap between the boot lid and floor, but if I get time I'll attack it with some thinners and I'm sure it will come off.
Outside is standard, apart from Light protectors all round (the black grille type ones) which, again, in my opinion look nice and not to blingy. But, please keep in mind it is 20 years old (T reg) so does have a fair few scratches and supermarket dings on it. Plus what looks like a half hearted attempt to "key" the bonnet. A lot of the scratches I'm sure a decent mop and polish would get rid of. But there are dings and a few poor "touch up" repairs. Although nothing major and from 10ft away it still looks really good.
Front bumper looks like its took a bit of a nudge from a post at some point as a small bit of the plastic has chipped off at the top, but inside and the chassis legs etc are all straight. Car was listed as a previous Cat D in the past, but was years ago and any damage was repaired ok.
Only rot was on front wings, near side especially, but these have been replaced with rot free ones from a donor car that was the same paint code. Under side is rock solid.
Not saying its faultless (come on, its a P38, so you wouldn't believe me if I said it was, haha) there are things that will need doing, and I had a list of things if I were keeping it, checking Universal joints, shafts etc etc, but car passed MOT this week so nothing pressingly urgent. I'm just being honest in my description.
Now the really good bit......... For the asking price I'll include the Nanocom that is only a few months old and the Blackbox Sync Mate (which together cost me a fortune!) and if you've read this far, and know your P38's, trust me you will need them, and they are more than worth their money.
Has two keys, but the remotes don't work. Did send the original to the guy on here that repairs them, but sadly it was beyond salvaging. But central locking all works off the key in the drivers door, so I never felt the need to throw several hundred quid at a dealer to get new ones coded up.
All in all, it is what it is, a 20 year old car that runs and drives and is in decent nick, but will want some time, effort and money spending on it,(if you want it mint again) but one that I'd happily jump in tomorrow and drive any where in.
Whilst I'm good with spanners, I'm hopeless with computers so still can't get the hang of listing photos on here. But if you are interested, DM me your email or mobile and I'll send what ever pictures you want, with no obligation what so ever. And inspection is welcome and actively encouraged. Car is in Kettering, NN16 area.
