Evening people. This is my first post on here , but sure it wont be my last. My miss's has a RR vogue 3.0 diesel 2005. It's got the bmw m57 engine. A few months ago we had the misfortune of our first major breakdown. Snapped aux belt. Loss of coolant major problems got it recovered to a garage friend of a friend. To look at and fix. Unfortunately he went ahead and fixed it and slapped a £1200 bill on my miss's. After alot of swearing the bill was payed. Upon return the car was losing coolant. Suspected head gasket it went back to be diagnosed/rectified. A bit of luck it was a split coolant pipe. Bad news no longer available. And to top it off , over night has shat all its brake fluid from brake pipes. We have now had it brought home. And I'm going to do the work on it for her to keep cost down as she cant put anymore money into it. As I've never done any work on this car I'm a novice so I'm asking for some help and advice from you lot. What's involved in rear drivers side brake line removal. And the coolant pipe is egr cooler. Can I remove the egr cooler and delete egr valve with out any problems to car? Thank you for reading sorry it's so long I promise the next ones will be shorter.

You should be able to find the coolant hose, try Island 4 x 4 or Rimmer Bros. Deleting the EGR valve is technically an MOT fail and it's not that simple as the engine ECU would need to be remapped to eliminate it.
Brake pipes rusting through is a common problem. Replace with CUNIC, you can buy a flaring tool on line for making the joints. Not a difficult job if you have a pit or a lift, a PITA laying on your back.
Welcome to the mad house, good luck trying to sort it.

I am afraid its probably not worth your time
BUT if you are willing to spend knuckle skin and filling a swear jar, we will help.
Oh is it a RR sport?

I don't believe the "no longer available"

Oh "overnight it shat its brake fluid"🤔

Fishey

We all appreciate an introduction post.

L322 M57 2005 according to the OP.

thanks for response , I know its mot no no, but under engine covers so they cant tell. And I.dont think its eletronic so dont think it will show any lights, but I might be wrong. As for brakes I've got all hydraulic flaring tool and pipes in garage done lines on other cars before. Unfortunately no ramps so will be crawling around like a slug on floor.lol what's best way to jack up car with out damaging air bags. And do the lines run down passenger side then over rear axel at the back. Or do they run down both sides.

Jacking up the car should not cause a problem, buy some ramps? If no ramps make sure you use axle stands.
The EGR is electronically controlled with feedback as far as I know so removal will flag errors. With the latest MOT over here they can tell is there has been a delete.

Make yerself some HippoRamps (tm)

Hello, mine, same age and model failed on brake pipes all round last year, yes they do run down the passenger side then over the rear axel. I did it without ramps, not too bad a job but you do need to do a lot of crawling about under the rear axel. The ends of the rear pipes are flexi with steel bits in the middle, on mine it was the steel bits on the flexi that the tester took objection too, worth a look before you start in case you need to replace them. On inspection the pipes over the axel weren't great so I replaced the lot. The font ones are a PITA you have to remove the plastic arch liners and I snapped a height sensor cable wrestling them off which went unnoticed until I put it all back together.

Hope that helps

Ok lezley

ye that's great help thank you,

As for the pipe I've give the part number on pipe to landrover and its discontinued. Then tried bmw and they also said it's been discontinued. Possible get a second hand one if I ring round it's more now the brake line repair. I can see it being a big job due to corrosion and in experience. Lol. But I'm use to working on fords so I'm use to rust now.

Post the part number for us.

Got to your local motor factors and get cupronickel pipe. Don't get it off the internet unless it is a trusted supplier as there is a lot of fake stuff out there. It is flexible enough that you can just bend it to shape. A small pipe bending tools will be required for tight bends. Flaring tool is cheap enough off eBay.

Go ahead with a egr delete kit that also bypasses the cooler, this should help there. Don’t worry about warning lights as on the m57 of that age there vacuum operated not electric, it does have a fault code for egr vacuum if you hook up a scanner but it doesn’t bring a warning light on (previous experience with my own td6 and x5 before it)
Check all brake pipes as they do rot on Rangies, once sorted cover in grease and should last the life of the car, other than weak gearboxes there a good car.

No need for grease on cupronickel pipe.
They have started plugging in to the OBD port on the MOT here so can spot if the vehicle does not conform.

Depends on where the OP is based. It’s not something done in U.K., just a visual check to see if any warning lamps are on and even then it’s not all of them, think it’s engine, brakes etc. important stuff.

Ye that's kind of what I was thinking regards egr. Looking at corrosion on brake parts think this could be a full brake strip down calipers flexi solid lines. Not sure the calipers will bleed up with the old rusty nipples. I need to get underneath after xmas. Thank you again for all the help and advice. Cars been ok so.far few bits electrics but easy fix's.
