hello. im new to this landrover zone so be patiant. i have a 2000 range rover vogue 4.6. i went to open doors with remote key fob the doors would not open. when i checked the remote the small light was not showing so i changed the batteries. the light still does not show on key fob. i have managed to get into car but there is no ignition no int lights no side or headlights every is dead can anyone help please denny

firstly is the car battery ok,ie got any charge,as no lights or ignition sounds like a flat car battery or one of the battery leads are loose, also check the main neg/earth lead to the chassis,if the battery is flat a common problem for causing it,is rf interference, from satalite dishes mobile phone masts, trick is to disconnect the rf reciever hidden behind the rear drivers side panel in the boot.

hello andy. i think the battery is ok this all happened when my key fob went off. i think and i might be wrong. but when i managed to get into car i disengaged the alarm but i think the immobiliser is still on . if the immobiliser IS till on does it cut out all the electrics lights ignition etc thanks for your reply denny

hello again andy. you were right about the battery. but i still think my key fob is dead. when i put a new battery on everything worked lights came ignition came on every. BUT the fob will not work when i put the key code in the door then open it the alarms go off. so unless someone has a answer its a new key fob. denny

the alarm going off suggests you have not put the code in properly. have you followed the method on range rovers.net?

take battery off and leave for 30 mins. then retry code doing 4 turns, your code. then open the car. there should be no alarm. after that turn key in door, hold a button on fob and it should sync1

i think the battery is ok

No good thinking m8 check stuff, its called elimination, sorry to be harsh but when you come here for advice and someone says check this or that, then check it, do discount it because you think its ok

try taking off the door card and then battery off, code in etc. if that doesnt work you will have to check the wires that lead to the door lock. there is a multi plug and a microswitch with a single wire. if any of these are loose/corroded then it may not be getting the code correctly. i.e if your code is 1341 and you put in 4-1341, if it doesnt get the first turn it will be seeing 3-1341 or some other permutation of the 5 digits. i had this on mine and it was the latch that was sticking due to the connecting rod bieng bent, took me 4 hours to get car to see the code!

you can also take the lock out and strip it down and re grease it while your there.

one last thing, you have set all windows and sunroof havnt you, if not run all windows down and up till the lcd displays 'window set' for each one. also sunroof has to be set. uses the tilt up then down. also slam the bonnet and make sure it closed.

if it doesnt work then, i'll be very suprised! and this is my suprised look:
