hi guys

please be gentle with me coming in here and saying hi :D

seems that since buying a disco in how similar they are in relation to a rangie

is it the L322 that has the same chassis as mine please

also seems small things like an old battery makes the landy throw its toys out of the pram

along with the joys of the air suspension , already replaced my compressor

was told that my D3 shares the same chassis as a range rover

that would explain in why it's such a joy to drive

landy seems to be in a totally different world of comfort

thks again and once again hope u didn't mind me coming in here to say hello

Have you run out?

The disco 3 & sport have a far superior chassis to the L322. The sports & Disco 3 have two chassis bolted together, hence the weight of 3 1/2 ton.
Far Superior how? Just curious having not driven the ladder chassied semi monocoqued D3 or Sport.
Are we talking superior chassis as in structural and torsional rigidity or suspension design and set up?
The L322 is a full monocoque based on the Bmw X5 so does not have a separate chassis to compare, in the flesh so to speak.

i think they said the D3 was the first to have full independent suspension

i don't know enough about rangies so don't know what makes it any better or worse than the older counter parts

only test driven a L322 and must admit was awesome to drive in comfort etc

always considered the range rover to be superior than the discoverys

just found this

The LR3 features full independent suspension (FIS). Like the Range Rover L322, this is an air suspension system, enabling ride-height adjustment by simply pumping up or deflating the air bags. The vehicle can be raised to provide ground clearance when off-road, but lowered at high speeds to improve handling. Land Rover developed 'cross-linked' air suspension. When needed, the suspension mimics the action of a beam axle (as one wheel drops, the other rises). If the chassis of the vehicle contacts the ground when the suspension was at its 'off road' height, the system senses the reduction in load on the air springs and raises the vehicle an extra inch.

I'm not quite sure what the point of this is. You asked if it was the same chassis as an L322 and were told it isn't . So you change tack and tell us that your Discovery has an air suspension system 'like' the Range Rover L322. As shown below just because something is the same make and has the same suspension doesn't make it the same model. Do you remember the VW Golf advert 'like a Golf ' same applies.

Or same make, same suspension, but oddly enough, different

i've been that for years

think it's owning a land rover , with banging my head so many times , or dropping things on it o_O

Dare I pop my head in an explain the D3 is actualy lighter than the L322....??

D3 official Kerb Weight 2,461Kg and the L322 is 2,570kg apparently.
the base model 5 seater, coil sprung is as above, the air suspension 7 seater is +200kgs
