Oh yes, the D3 is 'big boned' and the L322 has a fat ar$e....
When you start getting into the TDV8 powered L322's they are nudging up close to the 3te mark.

Well my question was directed at the author of the post which said "D3 and Sport chassis is superior to the L322",

The D3 is rigid & rugged. Goes like a bat out of hell, & as a timed served range rover owner, 29 years, from the classics to the L322, I'm afraid to say I prefer the D3. The drive is precision. As for the chassis. The D3 chassis is solid & strong, if not stronger than most medium sized trucks.
The range rover L322 i find lazy. You don't drive it, it takes you to where you're going. Although more refined it doesn't feel like a cage around you, & feels like a big car & tiring when you're throwing it around.
The sport, I find a waste of time. Nice to look at, but cramped inside & you can't use it as a utilty vehicle. it hasn't even got the split tailgate.
As for the original question of what chassis is superior has to be the D3 & sport. Two bolted together is better than a single.

good to get an insight into how the different systems are designed
just had all my cam belts etc replaced , so that's one job out of the way, inc a pic as we all love engines, lol
not owned a rangie so can't comment, only had a quick test drive in a L322 which i found very nice ,
only owned the D3 for around 4-5 months must admit it's the nicest landy i've owned, since some 30 x years ago started with a series
haven't had chance to give it a decent off road test , so looking forward to see how it copes
did upgrade to this from a hippo , got fed up with keep bottoming out when the terrain got abit more difficult and couldn't keep up with the bigger landies

Great to see people learning to DIY the more modern engines, it will help future owners no end.....top job.
