Went to look at it, of all the cars to choose from, they've lent it out. I can go see it tomorrow.. anything i should look out for? Don't know much about these. Only part history, 7 stamps, don't know if that's the first or last 7.
Is this the engine that needs the oil pump replacing?

No oil pump change I am aware of, it was the TDV6 that had the issues the TDV8 is a whole different design.
The 8 speed box is alot better than the 6 speed, but still needs oil changes so look for that in the history. (Every 5yrs now I believe why it's not milage based I don't know)
Suspension bushes, brake discs. Some seem to suffer with rust on the lower rear arches and subframes (early1s but worth a look). Early 1s suffer water in the rear (we see none so maybe they fixed it;)) so check in the rear side pods in the boot
Obviously run through the suspension heights to give the compressor a workout, look at the battery if it has a LR stickered 1 it is probably due for a change, You could just leave the radio/ignition on and see how long it takes to get the "low battery" warning.

Trouble with service stamps is you don't actually know what's been done it you don't have the schedule, so receipts are much better at listing work.

How many keys? does it have the FBH remote?

As you know its a LR so push every button and buying any car is always gonna throw up an issue somewhere.

Other than normal expected wear & tear. we have only had to replace front prop, an AC expansion valve, Suspension bushes (I felt failed early) and Oil cooler in the V.
The rest has just been normal stuff to be expected tyres ,Pads, Discs, Air compressor(rebuild).

Many peeps have problems with short runs and the DPF filling up so as a daily it needs a good run to keep it clear.

I will say ours has been a fantastic car in the time we have had it, not many come here with problems either (maybe later) they only did that setup for a few years as it was a test as to what to run in the 405.

If they lent the car to a prospective buyer expect to be looking for another:).

Cheers. Not a prospective buyers the directors dad.. or something. While his gets fixed.
Is no fbh fob, a big deal? Can you replace it? Dinyo if it's there or not

I don't think it's a showstopper and can be got (i fink) But every little bargaining chip helps. I am not even sure if all the model range had them, and of course LR options were so buyer specific it's all over the place. M just said I want this 1 cos it's got everything:rolleyes: so it sits on our drive:)
But it looks like this, well ours does;).

Didn't know you're close to me!
I take reviews with a pinch of salt, they're only good for the car in question. The garage has been there for a long time though and stock doesn't seem to stay too long

The more i read the advert the more in getting sucked in. I like to shop around but sometimes the decent choice goes while you're frigging around. How do i talk sense to myself? The photos look decent, drivers chair is used, but then it's a used car. If it looks and drives tidy, i guess the main thing is receipts of work? Recent service.. decent amount of tread on the tyres etc like any other car?

Lease a new one?

Am i being mean again on the noted price? It seems a bit higher than others of similar age/mileage, especially as only part service history.. i know that doesn't mean much in reality, but it does when you come to sell

Keep any car long enough, and service history means squat come sale time.

Been to have a look, it was worthy a test drive. Minor paint bubbling on the trail gate and drivers front wheel arch. Rear arches/sills look rust free, no step fitted.
Bit of grey in the oil filler cap, but i think that's condensation. Minor tick at idle that you can just hear over normal engine noise. I think it's due a service. Only a couple of receipts, otherwise just stamps in the book, plenty of jlr ones, but the last was kwikfit!!
It's got the fbh fob but dead battery i assume as the buttons didn't light when pressed.
Going thru all the suspension buttons and managed to trigger 'adaptive dynamics fault' that went away on restart.
Otherwise looked ok underneath and drive ok. But of a clunk from the rear going over a speed bump, rear subframe bushes?
What's your thoughts?

Sounds pretty good.
Hate paint bubbles cos they can get out hand underneath, so up to you, never heard about the front wings rusting.
Would agree on the oil, if it’s been stuck on a forecourt and only short runs so could easily be that.
The clunk could explain the advisory and maybe more next time it’s due.
Don’t know what that adaptive message means.
All good bargaining:). But have you seen any others for comparison as price again not looking so no idea what they go for.

Thanks for your opinions
The error seems to be likely a broken wire on the sensor, but i guess it could be the sensor itself.
Spoke to the sales guy who said he wouldn't budge from 13500! Told him that was still too much for that motor. There's a 2012 Westminster in Stockport for 12995, supposedly in very clean condition but no towbar, but autotrader showed as overpriced too.
Don't know if the gearbox has had an oil change. If rather leave the tyres and put my own on as they are a name I've never heard of and they will put similar on

The salesman is still hanging onto his covid dream stance!
Sadly for him/them as interest rates rise and everything gets silly expensive, large/high tax cars are going to take a hit.
