My disco 300tdi has started to pull to the left when driving, ofcourse when going slower it is more noticable. Is it just a case of getting the tracking / alignment done at a garage or is there anything else i should look at first? Done the obvious like tyre pressures any help thankfully recieved

what is the wear like on the shoulders of the tyres, if tyre wear is uneven then you is either cornering hard a lot or somethin is amiss.

my td5 is pulling to the right as you drive along .checked tyre pressures and tracking both spot on .on mine if you put your hand on the near side ball joint on the drag link arm ] this is the one at the front of the wheel]and get someone to turn steering wheel back and forth you can feel a knock in the ball joint.i have got a new complete drag link arm which my mate is fitting Tuesday .i will let you know if this cures it, when i collected the drag link arm from a local independent land rover dealer one of the mechanics said they change loads of them and the ball joints are obviously not big enough for discoveries

Just to throw into the mix, mine had the same problem but it decided to try and turn left at 70mph!! It turned out that the tyre wall on the inside had collapsed on the front drivers' side. It's worth getting it checked as it was quite frightening!!

It's probably tracking. You may find ordinary tyre places won't touch it and you need a Landy specialist. Or you can do it yourself - some fairly recent posts on here somewhere. I did once have a similar problem with a very weird solution - I changed the front tyres round and that solved it. (Wasn't a Landy though).

Cheers ill look into all that, yeah im not sure if normal garages would want to deal with landys so might have to go to them to get it looked at ill giv it a try though.

just noticed today, when im on full lock to the left i can hear a rough grinding sound, does this seem like the wheel bearing is away?

hi fitted the new drag link arm today. still pulling to the right. next step is to swop front wheels over.see if that makes a difference.

Bugger eh Alan! i had a wee look and found some of my grease from the swival hub seeping out too. Think im going to get a cv kit and a wheel bearing kit and strip it all down next month (i work away) and hopfully that will sort it out but let me know if you have any luck before then, cheers Gary

Alan, i had a look over mine today everythign seemed ok but i noticed that when i turned the steering to the left it went further and bends the steering bar! im guessing the steering damper is goosed so bought a new one ill let you knwo how it goes once it arrives and its fitted!

hopefully im getting there. first it was pulling to the right. i have swapped the front wheels over . now it is pulling to the left. evidently this means it is the Tyre that is causing it .i have put the spare on to replace the offending tyre which was well worn on the inside edge.it is much better now with only a slight drift to the left. i am waiting for a pair of general grabbers for the front .they are out of stock as after the snow and ice everybody wants them.

hi cracked it at last.put 2 new tyres on the front.drives perfic now.
Hey! I only mentioned that as a last resort, but glad I could help. It seems that just occasionally radial tyres do this weird thing. I've only ever had this happen once to me, but the other thing they do is go sort of figure of eight shape - lots of wear and vibration.

If you have problems of this sort it's always worth checking, especially on a LR, where tyre damage is a bit of an occupational hazzard.:D
