Pulled for going too slow on the motorway

If the vehicle is unsafe to drive over 60 to both yourself and other road users but quite safe at 50 you have done all in your power to drive safely.
I’d love to see the crown prosecution take that on.
I have no idea but would bet a pound to a pinch of shit no case has been taken in relation to a trattor. Doing 50.

Screw em.

From the RAC.

Minimum speed limits

Minimum speed limits are rare in the UK, but they do exist in places where going too slowly can cause increased congestion or high risk of a crash, such as in tunnels.

They’re marked by a blue, circular sign containing the minimum speed limit, while the end of a minimum speed limit is signalled by the same sign with a red line through it.

Although there isn’t an official minimum speed limit on most motorways, travelling too slowly can be considered dangerous and you might attract the attention of the police.

In this case, you’d usually be let off after a verbal warning, but you could be prosecuted for careless driving.

From me.

Ok so you maybe can't drive at 50 coz the traffic cops are bored and you maybe can't drive at 50 coz you might inconvenience the lorries!!!
If you drive a lorry you definitely aren't supposed to drive in the outside lane.
Lorries are supposed to be regulated to 56 so any time they're overtaking its at a mile or two per hour faster than the other lorry. Therefore you are causing less inconvenience at 50 coz the lorries can pass you quicker???
How often do you see lorries pulled for overtaking in the outside lane?
And, to take it to extremes, lorries all inconvenience cars coz they all do max 56 on 60 and 70 mph roads.
F*****g can of worms this one. Love to see that argued through the courts.
Finally blame HSE (not that HSE!! the health and safety one)
Do you use your landy for work?
Does it have a coshh assesment detailing that ear protection must be worn at speeds of over 50mph. Oops, no that won't work, can't drive with both ears restricted (ie headphones etc coz you wont hear warning signals.
Hmm, no real point to this post, just the musings of a cynical mind. :)
COSHH assessment? Who mentioned dangerous substances and chemicals?

A classic Land Rover was never designed to be driven over 60. Take into account 50 or so years and 50mph is just perfect.
My bus is limited to 52mph and I drive on motorways every other day. If I came across a tratter or any classic car doing 50 I would be happy to lose two miles an hour.
Big deal a whole two miles an hour. Just because a failed squaddy who has had to go truck driving, can’t stand up to authority and tell his boss he won’t drive like a dick for him, everyone else is in his way.
Commercial traffic has no more right to be on the road as any other. They belong to the British people who charge a government to maintain them for a nominal fee.
Anyone who thinks some numb fook who was given a HGV licence for fook all in the army has more right to be on the road is a complete cock. I paid for that non to be in the army in the first place. That licence is mine ffs.

On the other hand everyone knows bus drivers do actually own the road. :p

i had a 2a with buggered goveners that would do 70,mind i cant say it was safe at that speed

Land rover will maintain 55 easily but then trucks struggle to get past.
Indicated 55mph is more like actually 48mph, which is why trucks struggle to get past.
If l have to pass a truck then he is holding me up.... what's the difference ?
Trucks are limited in speed, you are not.

Give up your license, or give up motorways. It's not difficult to see that you are in the wrong. Stop trying to justify yourself.

No body has to justify anything. We all own the fookin roads.
Better to teach truck drivers to wash
Deep slow breaths, deep slow breaths, happy thoughts happy thoughts. :p

Currently sat in my truck waiting for the 20 minutes of checking time to pass then I'm off to fetch some chocolate and later some beer for delivery on boxing day. Sorry to the good people of Market Harborough and surrounding villages but I shall be waking you up with the banging of my empty trailer :p:p

If you're going slower than trucks and causing them to overtake you, then you are going far too slow.

Hand yer license in- you're a danger to other road users and yourself.
Thats total bollox . Everyone drives too fast and thats that , Better to get there late in this life .not early in the next I do 50 to 55 on the motorway some lorries drive too fast and busses ,and car drivers well dont get me started if everyone drove with care and attention and slower it would be a better place and stress levels are alot better .

Some interesting comments and differing views for which thank you all.
My Speedo is correct according to my mates phone app, l must tell him to stay off the motorway with his series 2 though, the economy of this country depends on truckers having priority it seems and he also travels at 50.
As for me, I'm going to up my speed to 52 and pray that the wheels don't come off.
I overtook a car yesterday btw, he was doing just less than me but not causing any problems.
Limited to 60 today with trailer so only a bit below my speed limit, have a speedy Christmas you all

Lorries that are limited to 55mph are going too fast? Now that's total bollocks!

Another one who needs to hand their license in.

Limited to anywhere between 52 and 56 depending on what it's set at.
Trucks should be limited to 50 since the weights went up, they are not all maintained as they should be now most are leased and on service contracts, the old haulers in the olden days had more pride in their trucks and l don't mean chrome and paint.
Less speed would save fuel and l would be able to overtake them : )
