Ps noticed your Gibraltar crest , I was out there with the TA four years ago, smashing place.
No probs.
Update is that the ecu lookie likey is in fact a Speedomatic Cruise computer.
That would explain the sensors on the propshaft then.
I have put a new earth strap on and narrowed the noise down to a relay under the dash that looks like a starter relay, problem is I cannot find any Lucas relays with that number on , its either an 8 or 3 then 3188H which does not correspond to any relay so far I can find.
Also it only has three connections where a starter relay has four C1 is negative G2 is earth and W1 is live.
Am trawling wiring diagrams

The old girl started several times earlier, had lunch, watched the news and went back outside, started her ,all ok.
Put the dash panel back together ,all tickedy boo and guess what? did not want to start
ARGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Took it all apart again and it starts.
One thing I did notice is if you operate the indicators or wipers when she is in non cooperational mood they run slow.
Off to bang my head against a wall....
also the wires drop off the fuse box,(all 3 fuses!)
