Thanks for the comment over on my fred, I've been lurking here a bit too, cracking work - learning to weld is on my list of things to do, the D2 is starting to go in the usual places...

Hey man :)

No worries, yours, Sams an Peter Patrekiev were my go to freds when i popped in, great tech an bantz lol

How did your LT230 build work out? I can't find it to get to the end

LT230 is going strong still, it's developed a tiny bit of backlash which I think is because I set the preload slightly too high on the diff and it's eaten the brash shims away. I'm going to throw an Ashcroft ATB centre in later this year when I get round to it.

Thread is here -> https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/lt230-rebuild.247618/ it sort of transformed into a full on LT230 & R380 rebuild :D

Are you against the abs idea? Your thinking too much. Grab a few cones, chop em, heat em, bolt em in. I hope it doesn’t rain tomorrow. Working from home and hoping to get few evening bits done. Got a boot support to weld then it’s on to rear quarter

The only thing I am 100% against is fat porn, it's disgusting

I bet she has to pay a landscape gardener to get in there to slash an burn that bush once a month :eek::eek:

Road cones you say?

I think you could be on to something there but I don't (as yet) have a ready supply of them, to experiment, but you never know what can happen in a short space of time ;)

Nah, right forum as it's the right fred for me to post my dribble ;)

I'm just looking at options for my fender flares, do I do the same as the rest or something slightly more interesting?

Rolling looks cool but not sure I could stretch the alloy that much to get the right look?

£30 + postage awesome if it works or expensive door stop if not.

Don't forget the extra metal bit that covers/protects the disk.

That looks good for £30+. Saves you time & welding. may need a bit of heat to stretch the skin.
OK Arm twisting over an done with, I ordered one to try, hope it inspires me to get the other side welded up now so I can get the arches flared for the MOT :) If they turn out half as good as I am imagining it will be a minor miracle lolz

Problem with that is the outer skin contacts the inner wheel arches and/or the front inner plastic arch liners. If you roll the arches, you might end up with a gap.... unless you make new liners ;).

You would need new liners yes. The arch roller works but there’s a nack to it. It’s popular amongst the drift lot.

I don’t see an issue with the fat bird either - I bet she’d really appreciate it. I wouldn’t even call her fat. Bubbly or a larger than life personality maybe....

I got her number if you get lonely ;)

I don't yet have arch liners, the flippin flaps don't yet meet the inside of the rear quarter panel, I have an idea but it involves drilling holes and I'm keen not to do that, I don't have arch liners on the front and have never had them either, not sure they'd last under there now either.

Heat gun to the ready and gonna roll the sh1t out of them for hours and hours and hours and hours until they stretch over the tyres front and rear :)

Will be interesting to see how that goes.....

Well that was a mixture of good and bad and everything in between.

Found a bit more rot :( So unimpressed with the extras as it is a big set back and will require quite a bit more work than I had anticipated, going to be a lot of cutting and shutting with a fair amount of swearing I would imagine :(

The bottom corner of the RH rear door next the check strap pin.

Looks like it's a door off repair and I thought it was just a little bit of bubbling paint

Then there is the RH rear body mount that I was certain was solid, turns out I was wrong about that too, the rear cross member will need a bit of remedial repair too, on the whole I an not impressed as I had a good look and there was no bubbling paint to speak of but what I didn't know was that it has rotted from the inside of the body mount and it wasn't until I went to scrape a bit of old mud off and gave it a bit of a slap with a hammer I found out how bad it was :(

But yeah, well, better to do it now while I'm in there but I really ought to have known better and just bought the rear cross member and done the whole thing.

Never mind, guess I'll just crack on and get it done, won't take silly long but it is a bit more work than I had planned.

I am going to have to crack on and get on with a few jobs in the evenings as and when the weather permits.
