I bought my 2000 RR 4.0 SE with only 1 key fob/blade and I'm so scared that I'll lose it! Where can I buy an additional set ? I have a locksmith who can program it for me. Everything on Ebay is just an empty case.
+1Take your V5C to a Land Rover main agent & they will sell you an original flip style key for about £250. Your locksmith won't be able to program a key for you.
Cutting a key blade and programming a key fob are 2 different skills entirelyI broke a key blade on my golf a couple years back. Local locksmith options promise wonderful things with car keys heard they generally aren't much good so avoided.
Eventually found a guy that specialises in custom remaps, custom tuning, ECU tweaks etc as well as sorting car keys - so I knew he had good electrical knowledge of cars. Came out and cut a new blade for about £60. Was a nice chap and did a good job. Recommend looking for someone in a similar trade to above. If they can't sort a key out then they'll know someone who can.
He will not be able to code a genuine P38 FOB.He only cut a blade but he had all the gear to code new fobs if needed. Just saying it gave him credibility that he knew his way around car electronics - that might be something to look for when trying to find someone that can get you a new key.

no but does mean it might be possible to have one coded to the car, p38s have been around a long time, long enough for the after market guys to have worked out how to do itThat's not a p38 though

I'll add to that the fact that once a P38 FOB has been programmed, it cannot be reprogrammed.Nobody can code a key to a P38.
If the OP is in the US then they will have a 315MHz fob & genuine replacements are no longer available from a main dealer (unlike here in Europe where we have 433MHz fob & can still purchase new from Land Rover). In this case the only option is to send the fob to Les Edwards at CRNW (or have him them an RF grabber).

I seriously doubt you're local locksmith can do what he says
There are probably used fobs on eBay etc but they can't be synced to your car

and I have a Launch Creader Elite JL diagnostic tool with which I programmed 2 spare keys in about 10 minutes .
The local independent car key specialist had quoted me £200 for one key - cut and programmed to the car so I was pretty chuffed with myself for learning something new and saving money to boot.
