Problems with Richard's Chassis

My experience wasn’t great, but in all fairness to them they sorted the problem out..... at least I think they have!

So, I bought the 200tdi chassis with the optional extra TD5 rear fuel tank mounts and the gearbox cross member, for those who have helped me out along the way (cant thank you guys enough!) will know, I'm by no stretch of the imagination a competent (or skilled) mechanic. So I started to put things back together and it's taken me a lot longer than any normal person plus waiting on some parts for weeks, by now I have the engine in, the gearbox, all the rad/intercooler, suspension, axels etc etc.

I get to the rear tank (the optional extra!!) and I buy myself a YRM cradle which does not fit, of course I'm thinking the cradle is wrong, so I phone up YRM and explain my dilemma to which I had a guy tell me "it cant be wrong, I've made loads of these and not had a problem" but whilst on the other end of the phone he started measuring a 90 he had laying around and it became apparent the chassis was wrong. That second my whole world stopped and all I could think of is the amount of money and time I have wasted!!

After the red mist had started to clear , I decided to get straight onto RC!! Now you have to bear in mind I bought this, waited 11 weeks for it to be made and delivered, it arrived and I was pleased as punch. I then bought a new gearbox again had to wait, then bought all my Allisport gear... again waited quite a while (a similar story with them) and it's taken me ages to work things out and start putting back together, and when I say ages we are talking the best part of a year, to be told (and I quote) "ahh yeah we knew there were issues as one of our suppliers had let us down, but we didn't know who had what so we have just been waiting on the calls to come in" My heart sank, but this is the important bit for me, which was what followed "but don't worry, I will build you a new one and have it delivered it 3 weeks, and take the old one away"

Nearly a year on and their customer service was great, no hassle and to be fair the length of time it took me to find the problem, I thought there would be problems. With my headache subsiding and now a seasoned pro I stripped all my hard work in a couple of hours back to a bear chassis....... and waited another 7 weeks for the new chassis to turn up. I did get some free shiny free seat box mounts and a very small partial refund!! If I'm being honest, for a company to hold their hands up, apologise and fix their mistake! Even after all that time, is spot on and it shows they value their customers.

It did put a downer on the whole project for me so I didn't touch it after that for ages, I even put the chassis on the bay!! Thankfully nobody bought it, I now have the bug back and making some good progress, it will still take me ages to complete though and unfortunately for you lot I will be asking too many stupid questions....... sorry in advance!

I know, I have taken over a room and filled it with the rest of the body and a few other bits..... she doesn’t even mention it now The problem with the tub is that visitors see it as well as her (I still can’t see an issue personally)

They should think themselves lucky. When yer working on yer tratter they know where you are. It could be worser. Yer could be out of sight up to no good with the new love of yer life.

An old Landy and a 2yr old is enough of headache for me... besides it would mean less time working on the Landy and less money to spend on it!!

Talking of which, just bought the sill rails and floor plan from YRM.... it will look like a car soon lol

This is where I’m at...
