This apparently is a perennial problem with boxes on this type of steering - the Adwest Lightweight - there is a bad leak from the seal that is fitted on the cylinder cover that holds the piston in.
It seems to be a bad design, with a looseish cover and a seal that's not deep enough to do its job. I would like to know if anyone can suggest any modification that could done in the farm workshop to improve this seals performance, or do I just put a new seal in and hope for the best?
Thanks in advance.
John.

Thanks for the suggestion, andy66; that seems an interesting idea, the only snag being that surely involving an engineering company will be more expensive than merely buying a recon box. Or are they so likely to leak again that people do this type of mod in desperation?
Not trying to be ungrateful, you understand, just not sure of the economics.
Thanks
John.
