You can get the 90 on a classic policy...how old are you? I paid £120 Fully Comp on limited mileage and i'm just over 40, quiet at the back...

As a 2nd motor its excellent...well done.

You can get Disco 1's on classic as well... but I would agree for a 2nd car the 90 is ideal... Disco's are still better VFM though:D...

defender every time. Ive had a couple of discos, series a 110 now a 90. So much more fun and easier to work on. Its down to what you wany really, mine is purely for green laning and the odd p&p as i have a couple of other vehicles although i do use it now and then just for fun.

I just want something I can jump into and go and play at a weekend. Plus it would be used if the wife had our daily driver. What are they like to maintain? I dont want to have to throw £100s of pounds at it when it will have very little use.

What should I be looking at when I view this Landy on thursday?

Same as any landrover, you will replace bearing and pads quite often (even with cleaning them after off roading), swivels and ball joints, prop UJ's and other moving parts will need to be looked after and probably replaced at some point but its all easy stuff and can be done for a decent cost (if your willing to get dirty that is). Personally im a big fan of preventive maintenance, i.e. fixing stuff before it ****s everything up, doing it like that saves lots of money...

Im a mechanic so maintanance shouldnt be a problem. Was just wondering really as its the first time I wil have owned a 4x4 let alone a Land rover

do yu actually want to go to "pay and play" sites, or to go green laning? there is a world of difference.

I can feel with yah there, I only got into LR's about 6 months ago but am a pretty decent mechanic. They are piece of ****, no captive nuts, no trapped bolts, just simple engineering. Like I said, replace worn parts before they cause other issues and you will be fine...
