Do you have exact dates? When you say your mate and you, is that in one vehicle or two.

If it was late October, I may be able to join you but I cannot get the amount of time off needed earlier in the month.
I do have a list of way points from central to southern Portugal which 2 of us attempted to follow last year, however, this method is tedious, slow and inaccurate.
Have a google at WIKILOC, log in, then download the offload routes that you require to your iPad.
I suggest trying this out first with a few routes in the UK.
