Evening all, after recently purchasing my 2002 discovery 2 td5, looking underneath while replacing the clutch I noticed that pretty much every bush is shot, I’m going to address this problem but unsure on which bush to use for the lanes/off-roading I do I’m swaying towards poly, looking for advice and pros on cons

thankyou

Welcome
Polys easy to fit. Get proflex not cheap ones.
Pressed bushes last longer.

I run both poly bushes & metalastic type on my motor.

I think poly are more robust and better wearing so perhaps better suited to off road and laning?

You will never find a comprehensive answer, it will always be 6 of one and half dozen of the other. All OEMs use rubber bushed, I think this is exclusive on pretty much every make and model of car everywhere. There has to be a reason for this.

That said, at home polybushes are hugely more easy to fit. So this alone might be worth going down this route.

However not all poly bushes are equal. They can come in different compunds, some softer and some harder than rubber and some about the same. But it isn't always easy to tell and a lot of cheaper end companies will not openly tell you.

The hard poly bushes are likely better for on road performance, although can increase NVH and reduce comfort levels. These hard bushes can in some cases wear the metal too.

"Polybush" is actually a trade name, a bit like Hoover or Sellotape. If you look at their homepage you can see a scrolling image set showing the different colours and what they mean:

Note other brands can colour their bushes whatever they like, so won't tally with the ratings from Polybush.

Click the dropdowns against each bush and you'll see you get a choice of 3 grades for some of them:

I suspect the softest/comfort will be the best off road.
