The only thing that confused me was the two places, and it appears to be in two different places. One in Goole, yorkshire and then again in cambridge.
I might be wrong but it just looked a bit wierd to me, on the other hand it could be completely genuine and a complete bargain

My project Disco 1 is to make it a pick-up/trayback, if I had managed to pick up a 1972 landy with buggered chassis and put it on my Disco chassis would I not be able to register it as a 1972 Landy? would I have to register it as my original Disco 1????

Disco. changing the body over doesn't suddenly make the landy 40 years younger ??

You would have to register it as a Discovery, as that is the chassis that you will be using.

I thought that was the case, mine is still going to be a Disco anyway but it was something that crossed my mind as I know of a couple of old boys that run 1960's Series 2's on Range Rover Classic chassis, I was even thinking to buy one already done but will now steer clear knowing I might loose it to the old bill, thanks guys :)

As a general rule of thumb, in order to keep an age related plate, you need to use either an original unmodified chassis, or a replacement that is an exact copy of the original, and at least 2 other major components. On a Land Rover, the body is not considered as a major component. If you use a chassis that has been modified in any way, or you don't use enough original major components, the the vehicle must be subjected to an IVA or SVA and VOSA will either issue an age related plate, or a Q plate. A useful guide can be found here http://www.minimag.co.uk/files/2011/08/inf262.pdf

Thanks all for recent posts of suspicions etc. Have forwarded them on to AVCIS.

They recently told me they were due to pay a visit to a couple of new owners of v5's and a bucket of rust. Have asked for some feedback... let you know

yes, i'd be interested to know how that works out.

I had the following reply from the F reg TD5 owner to my question as to whether they had any receipts for the parts used to 'convert' it.:

No I bought the car from a land rover enthusiast in derby, my dad owned a garage in Yorkshire and came with me to inspect the chassis numbers and things, the td5 parts came off a 2004 land rover and was fitted by the last owner.
