I also drove a LWB with a 4203, for years. It did pull the middle out of a couple of clutch plates, and broke a gearbox layshaft (I think - it was an inch thick I remember). It never failed to start, with the little bonfire burning in the inlet manifold. The main niggle I had was that it kept snapping injector pipes. I had overdrive, which got me up to about 55 mph. I used to carry a tape of 'Bat out of Hell' as it was the only thing I could hear above the engine on the motorway. The engine seemed quieter after a hundred miles, but then I found I couldn't hear people speaking! O happy days. One thing, though, it made a lot of heat - the only Landy I ever had with an efficient heater.
