Hi All
I will change the hose from PAS reservoir to pump during the weekend and I would like to ask your recommendation about the oil type and qty.
Based on spec I have found this (Liqui Moly 3100) which meets the spec ZF TE ML9 and dexron 2 D.
DO you have any other recommendation (Texaco is not available in Hungary).
Should I also try to flush the system and use only the new oil or mixing not an issue?
What is the oil qty I should prepare?
Thanks

I prefer Pentosin’s green Central Hydraulic Fluid (CHF) but that’s me.

Depending how old your fluid is, I would flush the entire PAS system. It’s easy.
Remember to clean the mesh screen inside the reservoir.

I have now red oil in both PAS and ACE. If i change the oil in the PAS to green one should i also change in the ACE? Are the two system separated or i can have oil mixing in the reservoir?
What is the best way of flushing the system?

Ravenol in mine too.

I have ordered 5 liters and probably I will soon change it in the ACE system as well. I guess Ravenol is green, right?

You can use alternatives in PAS without probs but better not mess with any other so called alternative in the ACE. For the ACE only the genuine STC50519 keeps yo8 on the safe side as in Hungary it's not impossible to have really cold winters . I've seen many cases of dead ACE pumps and all were running on something else recommended on forums not on the genuine stuff.

btw, the reservoirs are not comunicating

Thanks Fery!
To be honest I think the oil what I have in the ACE is not the genuine one as it is red and as I know the original is green.
The Ravenol what I have ordered seems to be equal to original as the part number is also STC50519(P) supplied for example by Rimmerbros
Power Steering Fluid 1Ltr Cold Climate - STC50519P - Ravenol

I've used Ravenol MTF-2 75W80 instead of the genuine MTF94 in my gearbox and it got hotter with it that's for sure cos i felt it through the console and i had harder gear changes when it was very cold outside so IMO that's how these aftermarkets work

Maybe you are right and genuine better than Ravenol but
1, as I have something else in the system already (maybe ATF) Ravenol could only be better
2, I can get Ravenol here for about 10€ while the genuine is about 30€ (from UK). I will need at least 5 liters, so 150€
But if there is no "communication" between the 2 systems (the reservoir is not connected) maybe I will not even bother now the ACE.

I have Ravenol in te PAS too and it's OK but i put genuine in the ACE. IMO better put ravenol it in the ACE too cos at least it's cold climate fluid certainly better than ATF cos ACE is more sensitive to fluids than the PAS and a pump will cost you more .

Remove the filter(you can clean it with petrol or carb cleaner at the same time), remove the tank's cap, start the engine and let it idle untill the reservoir gets empty then stop it and wait untill no il comes out, refit the filter, fill the reservoir, undo the outlet banjo on the pump, start the engine untill a good flow comes out there(this is to prime the pump well rather that turning it by hand), stop the engine, tighten the outlet, top up the tank , bleed with nanocom or go for a harsh ride with lots of body roll and it will bleed itself... top up the reservoir after that if necessary... a helper would be good at the ignition or to watch the tank cos it gets empty fast with engine running while the circuit is opened at the filter or outlet... i did it this way not once and it's no problem as long as the pump doesnt run dry for long

Nanocom procedure seems a bit "frightening" as it requires disconnecting stabilizer links both front and back and should be done on a 4 post ramp.
I have Nanocom, but last time when I worked on the front suspension (spring and shock changes) and avoided disconnecting stabilizers as it seemed to be seized.
Does the other way also work: harsh ride with lots of body roll?

I have just received the oils and instead of semi synthetic it is full synth. It is also Ravenol SSF, same spec, also mention Land rover cold climate PAS.
I guess it also should be OK, right?

Been running SSF since for last five years, originally to top up a leak, then to refill after new pipes.
